Anime Club
Calling all otakas!  If you're a fan of Japanese anime & Manga then join us for our monthly anime club.  This month we'll be meeting Sept. 20 @ 4pm.

This month always feels like a time of renewal, a time to begin again those activities which we had put on hold over the summer break.  Things like school, book groups etc.  Well now its time to get back at it and so our book groups will be gearing up for the season with new discussions and new schedules for the year.  We also have a new book group offering, Non-Fiction group meeting on the 2nd Monday of the month.  As always, there are loads of Children's and YA happenings so take a look for something that you would like.

The Nevins Library is asking your help as we plan to raise science awareness in our community .  As part of a grant process, we need to gather input from our patrons about their interests in science and the prospects for the Library as resource to provide this information.  Please take this short survey to help us be more informed about your interests surrounding STEM (science, technology, engineering and math).

It's Time for the Fall Book Sale!!!

The Friends of the Nevins Library will be holding their Annual Fall Book Sale this month.  As always they will have a slew of books available to tempt you from fiction to fantasy, Best Sellers to Baby Board Books.
They also stock a huge selection of puzzles, cd's and DVD's, all in excellent condition.  Hope to see you there!

Fall Book Groups are Starting Up Again

Don't you love to talk about a book you've just read with friends?  The conversation can get really interesting, especially if you loved or hated the book in question!  September brings the return of our monthly Book Groups for Adults.  We have many different groups, feel free to drop in a check one out!   This month we are introducing our Non fiction book group so join us on the 2nd Monday of the month if you like non-fiction genre. (Sept. 12 7pm)

Kate Larson, Author of "Rosemary, The Hidden Kennedy" to Speak at Nevins
September 26 7pm

Bestselling author Kate Larson will be on hand to discuss her new book which details the life of Rosemary Kennedy, a young daughter of the famous family, and the duplicitous arrangements that were made to keep her condition and issues a secret from the public.  This intriguing book has been on the NYT best seller list and is a fascinating read.

Snoopy Says Get your Library Card!

The month of September starts off a new school year! Snoopy is the 2016 spokesdog for library card sign up month. He says, "Be like Joe Cool and get the coolest card - a library card!" Open new horizons by getting your child their first library card or replace a lost library card during the month of September!

Put your Skills to Work as a Volunteer Tutor of English

Literacy volunteers of Methuen is seeking people who want to volunteer their time to make real difference in the lives of others.  This fall we will be holding a 6 week workshop to train volunteers to  work one on one with adults who want to learn English or improve their fluency in the language.  To find out more about the important and rewarding program your are encouraged to attend one of the orientation sessions listed below. 

Wed. Sept 7 - 7pm
Thurs. Sept 8 - 10am
Sat.   Sept. 10 - 10am

Training dates will be Wed. evenings for 6 weeks starting Sept 14 at 6:30pm
