Message from the Superintendent

Dear Berryessa Community, 

 

Thank you for a successful school year! We congratulate all our students on their milestones. Whether you are starting your high school journey or moving on to the next grade, you make us proud.   



This end of the school year brought inspiring ceremonies, recognitions and commencements. Indeed, it has been a year filled with achievements and hard work.  


On behalf of the Berryessa Union School District Board of Trustees and administration, we hope our students, families and team members have a wonderful and safe summer. We hope it is filled with fun and engaging activities. It is also a great time for exploration and learning new skills. Remember to read as much as you can! 


We look forward to seeing you in the Fall!

Advancing Education with the Strategy Keepers

We also recognized the Strategy Keepers, staff members who received a certificate of completion for participating in specialized training.


Dr. Niki Elliot's Strategy Keepers’ role is to build internal capacity within the district to sustain and deepen the use of the Mindful Leaders Project (MLP) practices. Strategy Keepers will be responsible for facilitating intrapersonal and interpersonal mindfulness immersion retreats that provide staff awareness and understanding of MLP practices.

Grateful for a Successful Berryessa Art Festival!

A big thank you to our dedicated volunteers and community partners who worked really hard to make the Berryessa Art Festival a total success! This amazing celebration of art and community has brought our neighborhoods together for decades.


All event proceeds directly support student and teacher classroom activities. We enjoyed local artists, musicians, food trucks, entertainment, and activities for the whole family. We appreciate the community’s partnership to advance our schools!

Summer Events at the San José Public Library


The San José Public Library has organized many events and activities for children and families to attend this summer!  

  

The Berryessa Branch Library, located on 3355 Noble Avenue, will offer many fun and engaging activities.


Here is a preview of upcoming events:

World Traveler: Find the Flag and Mystery Country

Up to June 30th, All Day


This event takes place all of June. Find the flag and get a prize! Once you get all the stamps on your “World Passport” activity card, provided by the library staff, you will receive a World Traveler Certificate! Want a challenge? Try to find the mystery county using only one hint given by staff every week! For more information, please click here.  


Vivarium with Owen Maereks

July 7th, 4:00pm-5:00pm


Learn about reptiles and amphibians with our guest speaker, Owen Maereks! The library will be hosting an event to learn more about amphibians and will actually have a few reptilian guests! For more information, please visit their website. 


Indoor Music and Movement Storytime

1st and 3rd Tuesday, 5:00pm-5:30pm  

Every first and third Tuesday of the month, the library offers storytime through songs and rhymes! Make sure to stop by the front desk to get a ticket due to limited capacity. More information can be found here.  


Science Day

July 2nd, 3:00pm-4:30pm

Did you know strawberries have a lot more DNA than any other fruit? Learn more about strawberry DNA and many other scientific concepts! To learn more, click here.  


Free Vision Screening

July 18th, 10:00am-3:00pm

Get a free vision screening and eye exam at the library! This is available for children ages 5-18. No registration or insurance is required. For more details, please visit the SJPL website.  

  

Make this summer an educational summer, whether it be learning about our reptilian friends, different countries, how to draw, or even learning what it takes to be an author! There is always something new to learn at the Berryessa Branch Library!
