Consent Agenda
The Board approved a number of routine consent items, including gifts to the district, Human Resources transactions, purchase orders and checks, and agreement renewals. Details regarding these items can be found in the Board meeting agenda.
Spending Determination of the Education Protection Account for 2022/23
Funds generated by Proposition 30, the temporary tax increase passed in 2012, are deposited in a state Education Protection Account (EPA) for school districts. Districts must annually identify how their EPA funds will be used. The Board adopted a resolution approving the district's spending determination of the Education Protection Account for 2022/23 in the amount of $ $714,894.
Lease and License to Use Agreements
The Board approved the following agreements for use of district properties:
- Greater Anaheim SELPA – Amendment to Lease Agreement for office space at the district’s Corporate Avenue facility for the term July 1, 2023, through June 30, 2024, at a monthly fee of $5,101.54.
- Grace Christian School – Amendment to License to Use agreement for use of the closed Cawthon school site for the period July 1, 2023, to June 30, 2024, at a monthly fee of $31,912.00.
- Del Sol School – License to Use Agreement for use of facilities at the closed Damron school site for the period July 1, 2023, through June 30, 2024, at a monthly fee of $20,869.63.
Food Distributor for Child Nutrition Program
The Board awarded a contract to Gold Star Foods for the distribution of processed USDA foods and commercial food products for the 2023/24 school year at a not-to-exceed cost of $400,000.
Change Order for Del Sol Deferred Maintenance Project
During the deferred maintenance project for Del Sol School at the Damron school site, workers discovered asbestos-containing flooring under the carpet in five classrooms which required abatement. The Board approved an additive change order in the amount of $46,230 for this work.
Summer Deferred Maintenance Projects
The Board approved contracting with M.P. South, Inc., under a previously approved master agreement, for districtwide summer deferred maintenance projects at a total cost of $572,935.50. These projects include asphalt repair/replacement at Arnold and Vessels, asphalt playground restriping at all six school sites, gas line repair/replacement at Cawthon (Grace Christian School), concrete pad repair and added walkway at Arnold, and HVAC replacement at Arnold and King.
Districtwide Multipurpose Room Audiovisual System Project
The Board approved contracting with ICS Services, Inc., under a previously approved master agreement, for the purchase and installation of new audiovisual equipment for school multipurpose rooms across the district at a total cost of $272,171.09. Upon completion, each school will have an audio system with wireless microphones, automated projection screen, and projector. Work is scheduled to be completed between June 1 and September 1.
Board Compensation for Missed Meeting
Per Board Bylaw 9250, the Board must take action to authorize full compensation for any Board Member who was absent from a meeting. Resolution No. 22/23-14 was adopted authorizing full compensation for the month of April for Trustee Brian Nakamura, who was unable to attend the April 20, 2023, Board meeting.
