Regaining Balance

Looking towards the end of the semester post-break has never been my strong suit; there always seems so much still to do. Yet, this year, it seems even more important to keep finding the souls of my feet to help me balance and see where I want and need to go. Away from the myriad responsibilities we all have and aspirational goals that have likely been altered in some way. We hope you choose to consider opportunities for next year that might foster supporting your growth and development in ways that build community, experiences, and deeper knowledge about teaching and learning, leadership, the university and beyond. Leading where you are: Progress on equity requires intentional action

MSU’s ambitious vision to expand opportunity and advance equity requires leadership from all areas of the university. Leading from where you are isn’t a new concept. Embracing leadership as part of everyone’s role and responsibilities at MSU needs intentional action and skill development to insure progress on equity. As academic services evolve to support student success, resources for university faculty and staff simultaneously grow and diversify. Learning communities offer opportunities to build skills to meet the moment and make progress on university prioritiesRead more

ACE Womens Network Michigan

Happy Women's History Month

From MI ACE Women’s Network

During the month of March MI-ACE acknowledges Women’s History Month, International Women’s Day and Equal Pay day. We salute the accomplishments and leadership of women all over the world, in all occupations and areas impacting women.

The 2023 MI-ACE Women’s Network Annual Conference will take place June 12-13. The Network recognizes that accessing funds for professional development is a potential limitation for some women in the state who wish to attend this conference. To help remedy this, the MI-ACE Women’s Network has created scholarship opportunities to provide supplemental funding to cover the cost of registration for this annual conference. The Lynette Findley Annual Conference Scholarship and the Dr. Jackie Taylor Scholarship are now open for applications through May 1, 2023.

"In challenging and traumatic times, there is increased need to find educators who are caring, who can listen, offer guidance and a helping hand, and help you find support and community even when you don’t know quite what you need to keep moving forward. In the midst of the crises we experienced in February, these educators – most of whom I did not know personally – responded immediately to my request and provided resources, expertise, and time. They became those caring educators available to many in need across campus. They exemplified the culture of care we espouse. They joined numerous others in many spaces who stepped up and continue to do so, helping each of us find our way. I am so grateful to each of them. As well, sincere thanks to Jim Lucas in APUE and to Makena Neal in CTLI who were my tireless colleagues pulling together and curating these Follow-Up sessions and resources through #iteachmsu. Educators are those we seem to find when we most need them."
