Monthly Fire Safety Message: Spring Cleaning

It may be raining but regardless of the winter storms, California always has dry summers and wildfire burns in dry periods. It’s time to prepare for wildfire season. Here are 3 ways to ready your yard:

  1. Clean up any combustible materials within 5 ft of your home to help protect from burning embers.
  2. Cut annual grasses and weeds and do it again when they grow back.
  3. Trim shrubs, plants, and trees to create spacing and prevent the spread of fire.

Free Homework Help for Fairfax and San Anselmo Students

The Homework Helpers program, created and run by high school interns and the Marin County Free Library, is offering a free “homework help” program for English Learners and underserved students at the Fairfax Library. The program began in February and will continue throughout the school year, every Saturday from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Older people are breaking through the tired and hurtful stereotypes of aging to better reflect who they are, how they live, and what they want.

These outdated narratives are sexist and ageist and are damaging to our physical, emotional, and sexual health. It's time to change them. Let’s learn how we can create new narratives of aging–ones that value people at all stages of life, not just youth, and it starts with us.

Bring any clothes you no longer love, and trade them in for clothes brought by others. This a great way to save money and reduce clothing waste. Current consumption and production of clothing is excessive and harmful to the environment and to communities.

There will be a bake sale at the event, with all proceeds donated to a non-profit for communities negatively impacted by clothing waste in Gauna.

Sponsored by Fairfax Parks and Recreation Commission.
