MacArthur Boulevard Construction Activities

Northbound SR-55 MacArthur Boulevard Loop On-Ramp

10-Day Closure

WHAT:

Crews will be pouring concrete to reconstruct the northbound SR-55 MacArthur Boulevard loop on-ramp, which will require an extended closure of the ramp.

WHEN:

The on-ramp is expected to close as early as 5 a.m., Monday, Feb. 3 and reopen to motorists by 5 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 13.

This work may be loud. The schedule is subject to change due to inclement weather or unforeseen operational issues.

Roadway Striping

On Friday, Jan. 24 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., crews are expected to restore MacArthur Boulevard and restripe the street from two to three lanes in each direction underneath the freeway.

Dyer Road Construction Activities

Pile Driving

WHAT:

Crews are expected to begin daytime pile driving as they construct the foundation at the Dyer Road bridge. Pile driving is a common method of constructing bridge foundations where steel beams are driven into the ground until they reach a hard layer of earth beneath the foundation.

This work may be loud and disruptive because of vibration and pounding. The schedule is subject to change due to inclement weather or unforeseen operational issues.

WHEN:

6 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays, beginning as soon as Monday, Feb. 3, and continuing for approximately two months.

Roadway Striping

On Monday, Jan. 27 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., crews are expected to restripe Dyer Road to two lanes in each direction underneath the freeway, which will require traffic to be shifted towards the center median.

Ritchey Street Opens to Motorists!

The northbound lane on Ritchey Street is open to motorists following an extended closure! We appreciate the public’s patience while contractors resurfaced the street and reconstructed the curb and gutter.

About the Project

OCTA, in cooperation with Caltrans, is improving 4 miles of SR-55 between I-405 and I-5. The project will improve traffic flow and reduce travel time by adding one regular lane and one carpool lane in each direction. Also, the project will add merge lanes between several interchanges and stripe carpool lanes for continuous access, augmenting safety on the freeway by making merging easier. These enhancements are expected to create a better, smoother driving experience for motorists.
