Dispensation for St. Paddy's Day

Bishop O'Connell has granted a dispensation from the obligation to abstain from eating meat to Catholics of the Diocese of Trenton as well as to any visitors or travelers who may be physically present within the territory of this Diocese this Friday, March 17.

Those Catholics taking advantage of the dispensation are asked to transfer the Friday abstinence obligation to another day of their choosing in Lent or to perform a work of charity (for example, a donation to the poor) or some exercise of piety (for example, a visit to Church and prayer before the Blessed Sacrament, a rosary, or some other prayer, etc.) to fulfill the spirit of the obligation.

Getting Ready for Confirmation!

Youth Ministry

Thank you to our Youth Ministry teens that presented a powerful and prayerful portrayal of the passion and death of our Lord through the Living Stations of the Cross last Friday night.

All Youth Ministry Teens and Families are invited to 12 o’clock Mass this Sunday, March 19th.

We will worship together as a parish family and meet in the library after mass for a blessing.

Welcome New Staff!

Christopher Carlo

We are thrilled to welcome our new CRE, Coordinator of Religious Education, Christopher Carlo, who joined our staff on March 7th. Chris grew up in Lincroft and studied theology at Desales University and philosophy at Mount St. Mary's University. He has worked as a middle school religion teacher, a youth minister, and a pastoral associate in the area. He is passionate about evangelization and helping others to understand the Catholic faith and grow closer to Jesus. Chris’ background will prove to be very valuable as the leader of Religious Education and looks forward to working with our Youth Ministry. Please introduce yourself to Chris and join us in welcoming him to our church community.

Kerrin McCarthy

We are excited to welcome our new Parish Office Secretary, Kerrin McCarthy, who joined our staff on March 8th. Kerrin has a BS in Business Administration and Marketing from Georgian Court University. Kerrin has been a lifelong parishioner of St. Mary’s in Middletown but began coming to St. Catharine’s in 2021 to meet with Monsignor Walsh in preparation of her wedding which is next month! She worked in New York City for 5 years at a law firm and a year and a half at a technology company in Fair Haven. Kerrin brings a warm smile and a friendly personality to our front office. Please welcome Kerrin to our church community.

Fatima Movie is Next Saturday

There are still tickets available for the special showing of the movie “Fatima” for next Saturday, March 25 at the theater in Atlantic Highlands. For questions and ticket information, please reach out to Al Rabbat at 732-216-4063.

Support our pilgrims and have a fun afternoon together!

Annual Catholic Appeal

As of March 13, 2023, St. Catharine parishioners have pledged $49,619 toward our goal of $155,000 so we're at 32% of our goal. This year's pledges are about $10,000 less than last year at this time and we have fewer donors so far than we did last year. Our average gift is down by $50 per donor compared to last year. We obviously will need more participants if we are to meet our goal. If you haven't yet pledged, please give it serious consideration. We need your help! Pledge cards are available in the gathering space after all masses and in the church office. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Bob Buus at 732-946-8615 or w2od@aol.com e-mail.

Car Needed

Our St. Vincent DePaul Conference has a family in need of an automobile. If you, or anyone you know, is able to help in our mission to help this family please contact us. Leave a message for Tony DelVecchio or Joe Sparacino at 732-224-1395. Thank You.

A Practical Thought...

The yearly Breaking Bread missal we use for mass that starts with Advent combines the best elements of a hymnal and a missal. This missal costs our parish $4300 yearly.

If you would like to make a donation to help reduce the cost of the missals, please contact the parish office.
