Called to Glory

Jill DeYoung, the mother of Patricia Bock and mother-in-law of Rev. Douglas Bock (Emeritus), passed away at the age of 100 on March 23. Please pray for Jill's family and friends as they mourn her earthly passing. Read more here about Jill's life.

Rev. James Leggett (Our Savior, Ft. Lauderdale, FL) was called home to Jesus on April 3. Please pray for his wife, Anna, as well as their family and friends.

Prayers

Rev. Timothy Brown (Christ the King Lutheran Church, Orlando, FL) had successful hip replacement surgery on March 28. Please pray for a full recovery and healing.

Rev. Murray Brindle (Emeritus) is home and waiting for a liver transplant. Please pray for his body to heal and pray for the process of a transplant to be swift.

Please continue to pray for Roy Heflin (DCE Emeritus) as he continues to wait for kidney transplant surgery. His health has recently improved. Please keep him and his care team in your prayers.

Cindy Hammerstrom (FLGA District Office Staff) recuperates at home after ankle surgery. Please pray for relief from pain and a full recovery.

Beth Le Sieur, the wife of Rev. Greg Le Sieur (Christ, Cape Canaveral, FL), had successful breast cancer surgery on March 14. The family rejoices in good progress and healing from the first surgery and seeks your prayers to cover Beth during her time of recovery now.

Join together in prayer as we prepare to gather in worship, study, and celebration while focusing on the mission of Christ at the FLGA District Convention in June. May the undeserved grace of God, through Christ, that we receive daily compel us to share this same message with urgency and joy! Please pray over the convention preparations, delegates, overtures, and those nominated for leadership.

Please pray for our nation as the transition of leadership continues. May the Lord guide those making decisions to do so with concern for the well-being of our nation as a whole, those in need of the programs/services, and those who serve faithfully as civil servants.

For those serving in our Armed Services, particularly those in active war zones such as the Middle East/Mediterranean, South China Sea, and elsewhere. The extended tours of duty, staffing shortages, and dangerous, stress-filled environments impact many of our men and women. Pray for their safety, well-being, mental and spiritual health, and peace.

How can we pray for you?

Submit a prayer request so our office and others in the District, if you choose, can lift your need or thanksgiving to our loving Father.

  • Not bringing items? Please consider a special offering to help with overall shipping costs.
  • Bring your items ready-to-ship in a box labeled with the items inside the box. Do NOT seal your boxes!
  • The Convention Offering is designated for the Lutheran Church of Uganda and its mission work through schools, seminary training, and congregations.

Uganda is home to 48 tribes and 52 spoken languages, and the Lutheran Church of Uganda (LCU) currently serves 11 tribes and 14 language areas. While English is the national language used in schools, most Ugandans worship in their tribal language. There is a great need for translations of Bibles, hymnals, catechisms, and other materials to spread the Gospel.

Lenten Devotions 2025

The season and journey of Lent are gifts for EVERYONE. With the decline of Christianity and even spirituality in our culture, Lent is one of those ancient practices that people easily say, "It's not for me." But it is. Lent is a season of reflection, discovery, transparency, forgiveness, personal growth, and being drawn closer to Christ as our Savior and Redeemer!

Throughout the 40 days of Lent, the goal of the daily scripture readings and devotions written by your District Staff, Board, and Circuit Visitors is to encourage and bless you as you listen to God in His Word, think about all Jesus has done for you, and integrate these teachings into your lives.
