The Foundation Board worked busily behind the scenes, but it was YOU who made Foundation Night a success. We thank you for your participation, generosity, and patience. It all paid off in a big way and will make a dramatic difference in many lives.

Our main goal is to raise money to support our programs but your experience at the meeting should also be informative and fun. Due to the resounding success of the evening, we are certain that all our objectives were met.

Foundation Night 2023 proved to be stellar! We promised lively entertainment and Silent and Live Auctions to rival any we have had before. You came, you bid, and you purchased charms and quilt tickets. And then we danced!

EVERYONE deserves a pat on the back and a loud round of applause for their part in a very successful fundraising evening. In total, we collectively raised a remarkable $45,186!

You proved this axiom true: We are all in this together...and together we are Stronger. Better.

The FAWCO Foundation is YOUR Foundation. Please don't hesitate to contact anyone on the Board if you have ideas, recommendations, or questions. We love to hear from you!

All the best,

Mary Stange

Vice President of Communications

Dear FAWCO Community,

Before all the exciting information in this NEWS about the recent Bratislava Biennial, I want to take this opportunity to write to you as the immediate past President of The FAWCO Foundation. When I look back at my four-year tenure as President, I cannot believe how different it was than I expected! Covid had a great impact on how and where we fundraised. Thanks to the amazing efforts of our Board, we switched gears and became fundraising trailblazers. I am very proud of the board (Tracy, Angie, Lauren, Kathy, Christine and Janet) and I thank you all profusely.

Our success was greater because of the tremendous efforts of our supporting team including the phenomenal Silent Auction duo Carol-Lyn and Julie, our EA and DG Administrators Shelly and Nan, and, of course, our Archivist Patti. Working together with this wonderful team clearly made my job easier! ;-)

A wise FAWCO friend shared with me her understanding of the importance of FAWCO friends and, she is right. The support and camaraderie that comes from working together towards the joint goal of improving the lives of women and children worldwide binds us. Special thanks to Emily and the FAWCO Board, Tharien and the TP4 Team and to all those in FAWCO who have supported and encouraged me. Having worked with all of you has made me a better person.

This has been an incredible experience! I wanted my term to end on a positive note; I just never anticipated that it would be a positive COVID test!

My best wishes to Ann Marie, Janet and Liz and their boards as well as Amanda and Lauren as they move forward with new FAWCO adventures!

2023 Development Grants and Education Awards

This year's recipients comprise a wonderful array of people and projects. The FAWCO Foundation awarded nine grants worth a total of $36,000 to projects in countries from the USA to Ghana. Education Awards were given to nine members and their children from seven different clubs, totaling $35,000. We would like to extend a very big thank you to all of the donors -- your continued generosity makes these programs possible!

Foundation Night 2023

Silent Auction

OneCause supported an exciting in-person Silent Auction that allowed members from all around the world to participate in Foundation Night. All in all, 152 items were generously donated by 60 donors and raised an astonishing $9,491!

Many thanks to our Silent Auction coordinator Carol-Lyn McKelvey (AIWC Cologne and FAUSA) and her trusty assistant Julie Meyerson (AIWC Cologne) for another successful event!

Live Auction

The Live Auction offered five wonderful travel experiences - from the coast of Oregon to bustling Barcelona. A special thank you to Johanna Dishongh, Bev Bachmeyer, Jennifer Taylor, Laurie Richardson, and Monica Jubayli for your very generous donations. Bidding brought in a total of $21,600!

A huge thank you to Sandy Gogel (AWG Paris) for serving as as this year's very enthusiastic auctioneer. Well done, Sandy!

The Stories of Vintage

Vintage or recycled outfits were encouraged at this year's Foundation Night and everyone's favorite question was "So what's the story??"

Five finalists were featured with the most inspiring stories. Liz MacNiven's (AIWC Cologne) dress won the popular vote! It was first worn by her mother at her own wedding in 1990. She restyled the outfit to wear to her son Ross's wedding in 2021 to honor her mother and reuse a timeless piece of fashion. Congratulations, Liz!

2023 FAWCO Friendship Quilt

Congratulations to Liz Janson (FAUSA)

as the winner of the

2023 FAWCO Friendship Quilt!

The quilt, designed and assembled by Quilt Queen Roberta Zöllner, was comprised of 101 donated squares from 39 members of 16 FAWCO clubs and FAUSA.

The quilt is always a huge undertaking. Heartfelt thank-you's go out to Roberta and her helpers, the quilt square donors, and quilt ticket purchasers all over the world who helped make $3,020 in donations a reality!

Bratislava Foundation Charm

Sales from the 2023 limited edition charm, which quickly SOLD OUT, raised an additional $1,085! If you listen carefully, you can hear them clink on the bracelets of many FAWCO members.
