CCAP UPDATE
 COUNTY COMMISSIONERS ASSOCIATION OF PENNSYLVANIA
THE VOICE OF PENNSYLVANIA COUNTIES

Counties call for immediate action on mental health funding and 911 reauthorization

Leaders representing counties across the Commonwealth gathered at the Pennsylvania Capitol to call on the General Assembly and Shapiro Administration to take immediate action, within the FY 2023-2024 state budget process, to increase county mental health funding and reauthorize the 911 call-taking and dispatch system.

Counties are calling for an investment of $150 million in the county mental health base for the 2023-2024 fiscal year, in addition to the allocation of the $100 million in federal ARPA dollars for adult mental health, to begin the rebuilding process.

See full press conference here.

Counties are also calling for a modest increase in the 911 surcharge to $2.30, with a $0.15 increase each year until the next reauthorization in five years.

2023 CCAP Annual Conference and Trade Show update

Register now for the CCAP Annual Conference and Trade Show to be held in beautiful and picturesque Erie County from August 6 to 9! The Bayfront Convention Center, on Lake Erie’s bayfront, will be the site of the Conference. Make your plans to visit the Maui of the East and the state’s northwestern region this summer! Be sure to check out the information on the Visit Erie tab on the website to help plan your stay in Erie!

The Annual Conference is your best opportunity to network with

other county officials, attend great education sessions, hear timely speakers,

and visit vendors interested in earning your business. The Conference agenda will be

updated frequently as breakouts, speakers and other events are confirmed. Be

sure to check the CCAP website regularly!

Registration and Reservations - Online registration for all

members and their guests is open! Register by 4 p.m. on June 30 to take

advantage of the discounted rates; registration rates increase after that time.

CCAP is once again offering a special promotion to counties for registering

multiple attendees. Four county members can attend the Annual Conference for

the price of three! Any additional attendees beyond the fourth free attendee

would attend at the full Conference registration rate.

Don’t forget to make your hotel room reservation at the Sheraton Erie Bayfront Hotel or the Courtyard Erie Bayfront. Both hotels are connected to the Bayfront Convention Center. The room reservation deadline for both hotels is July 5 or until our room block fills up, whichever comes first.

Don’t delay making your room reservation; after July 5, our Conference room rate will not be available. The Sheraton is sold out, but there are rooms available at the Courtyard.

We look forward to seeing you in August!

Road and Bridge Safety Improvement

Award Program

Each year, CCAP, the Pennsylvania Highway Information Association (PHIA), and the PA Department of Transportation (PennDOT) work together to recognize the best road and bridge safety improvement projects undertaken by local governments across the commonwealth. Please note that projects of all sizes, scope, and dollar value are eligible to be considered. Awards are NOT given to only high-dollar-value projects and the overall cost of the project is not a factor in determining the winning projects.

Please review the application and submit your county’s project(s) for consideration by July 7. The award will be presented on August 9 at the CCAP Annual Conference at the Bayfront Convention Center in Erie.
