Greetings CASP,


Happy April! As we spring into the new quarter, we hope that your break was restful and allowed you to recharge for the exciting quarter ahead. We want to remind you that it is important to pace yourself and stay motivated as we approach the end of the school year. Remember to stay organized, and set small goals to prevent yourself from burning out. You don't have to do it all alone—our doors are always open to you, whether you need academic support, a listening ear, or just some encouragement. We know that you are capable of achieving great things, so remember to keep pushing forward!


We are open! Come by and say hello to our new office located on the 3rd floor of Center Hall (through Door E & F). We have free printing, a dry kitchen, and a study space open Mon - Fri from 9 am - 5 pm.

Financial Aid Deadline Update

To support students and families who are still experiencing difficulties completing their financial aid applications, CSAC will extend the 2025-2026 priority financial aid application deadline from March 3 to April 2, 2025. This applies to FAFSA, California Dream App, and the 2025-2026 Continuing Student Scholarship application.

La Jolla Playhouse’s celebrated annual WOW Festival is a four-day celebration of immersive, interactive and surprising art experiences from local, national and international artists. WOW Festival is presented in partnership with UC San Diego and takes over locations around the campus in La Jolla.

Join us for a book signing with Chávez Celebration Kickoff speaker María Dolores Águila, a Chicana poet and author of Barrio Rising, the 2024 “One Book, One San Diego” kids selection.

Eighth College Students and Residents and come pick up food from local family owned farms with a highlight on the impact our farmers have in our homes and communities.

Working with Casa Familiar to engage UCSD students, staff, faculty, and the community in an empowering act of service that honors the legacy of César Chávez and highlights the ongoing relationship between our communities, food justice, and the land. This project will connect our campus community to the decolonization of food systems, reflect on the historical and present labor of farmworkers, and inspire leadership in advocating for sustainable, equitable food practices.

John Muir College is producing a curated afternoon of personal expressions focused on Heritage and Hope. Tell Me A Story The program will feature the voices of poets, students, and faculty. Contributors share about piece(s) of their heritage, how it gives them hope or what they hope for. “Tell Me a Story” will fill the Quad outside of the Middle of Muir (M.O.M) on Wednesday April 9th,2025


We are putting out an open call for submissions of those wishing to tell a story. The formats vary as can the lengths. Poems, anecdotes, descriptions of images, full narratives, from less than a minute up to ten. Entries do not need to be fully composed, but should convey basic details and overall theme/message of the Story.

During challenging times we look to our past to learn and stay steadfast. This event will create a collaborative mural that visually represents at least one of César Chávez’s 10 Core Values to inspire us; Determination- allowing participants to express their interpretation of the principle/value through art which will be displayed in OASIS. This mural will serve as a visual expression of the perseverance, willpower, and collective strength that empowers individuals and communities to overcome adversity.

ERC Trip to Chicano Park


Our Chicano Park event circulates the annual celebration for the Chicano Park movement and will provide students the opportunity to learn about Chicano park and the history behind the park's celebration.

Danzar, meaning “dance” in Spanish, is a cultural event that celebrates Chicanx-Latinx heritage through the art of dance, emphasizing its cultural significance and its connections to civil rights movements like the United Farm Workers movement led by César Chávez. Members of the UC San Diego Dancesport Team will host a beginner-level workshop on Latin Dance.

Adelanté: Roots and Rhythms


Adelanté: Roots and Rhythms is a cultural event celebrating Chicanx, Latinx, and Hispanic heritage through performances, food, and student organizations. This event highlights both the commonalities and rich diversity across Latin American cultures, fostering education, unity, and community engagement. Featured countries include Brazil, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Cuba, and Honduras.

Health Summit '25

Pilipino Undergraduate Society for Health (PUSH): Health Summit '25


📍/⏰ Day 1: Friday, April 4 @ 5-7:30 PM in the Dolores Huerta Room

📍/⏰ Day 2: Saturday, April 5 @ 1-5 PM in the Stage Room


Health Summit is PUSH’s annual health fair where folks can network with health professionals, ranging from medical students, graduate students, and researchers in health fields like medicine, public health, physician’s assistant, and more! Our professional guests will also be holding panels where attendees can ask questions concerning their career path, advice they'd give to others, etc. We also hold more hands-on workshops, like learning how to take patient vitals and learning how to suture. Health Summit will be across two days this year, and anyone can register and attend, regardless of PUSH membership or Filipino identity! It’s a great opportunity to network with health and STEM professionals and meet like-minded undergraduate students here at UCSD, so make sure to register ASAP through the QR code in our flyer (also available on Instagram @pushucsd)! Tuesdays | 1-2 PM | Cross Cultural Center


The Queer Community Connections group is a place to meet and gain support while discussing your sexual and/or gender identities in a confidential setting. This group is for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, asexual, intersex, and people questioning their sexual or gender identity.


Topics are determined by group participants and can include queer joy, life stressors, sociopolitical climate, family/cultural issues, etc. This CAPS group is cofacilitated with our STRIDE coordinators.


Queer Community Connections for Graduate and Professional Students

Wednesdays | 4-5:15 PM | Cross Cultural Center


This in-person connections space exists to create space for community development and to foster a sense of belonging. The content is guided by community members and often focuses on Queer issues and/or general graduate and professional student issues.


Examples include personal and professional relationships, Queer topics in academia and media, intersectionality, minority stress and coping with Imposter Syndrome. Conversations will be facilitated by Dr David Kersey.

Yoga as Healing Support Group Registration Open


⏰ Time: Spring Weeks 2-9, Thursdays at 4:30pm


This eight-week yoga series for student survivors of sexual trauma explores reconnection to the mind and body. This program provides a means for participants to connect to their bodies and allows them to explore the benefits of mindfulness, guided practice and meditation. No prior yoga experience is necessary to participate and all supplies are provided.

2025 Art of Science Contest

Celebrate the beauty that can emerge during scientific research by entering the Library's Art of Science contest. UC San Diego undergraduate and graduate students, postdocs, faculty, researchers and scientists are invited to submit visually compelling images derived from their scientific work. These submissions are more than just images; they showcase the beauty of scientific exploration, inspiring curiosity and engagement with some of society's most pressing challenges and cutting-edge research. 


The submission period is open now through April 25, 2025. Winning images will receive $75 and be featured in an exhibition at Geisel Library in Fall 2025.

2025 JACL National Scholarship Program

The Japanese American Citizens League (JACL) announced that the 2025 National Scholarship and Awards Program is now underway. The JACL annually offers approximately 30 college scholarships for students who are incoming college freshmen, undergraduates and graduates, and those specializing in law and the creative/performing arts. There are also financial aid scholarships for those demonstrating a need for financial assistance.  


Scholarship Program guidelines, instructions, and applications have been posted on the JACL website, www.jacl.org, and can be accessed by clicking the “Youth” tab on the menu bar.
