North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services Consolidation Facts Sheets for Providers and Members/Recipients

On November 1, 2023, The Secretary issued a directive stating that Sandhills Center will be dissolved, and Eastpointe and Trillium Health Resources will be consolidated into one entity. The majority of Sandhills’ counties will be reassigned to Trillium, with the exception of Davidson, Harnett and Rockingham counties. Davidson County will be served by Partners Health Management, Harnett County will be served by Alliance Health, and Rockingham County will be served by Vaya Health.

Trillium Health Resources and Eastpointe Human Services, which was already in the process of merging with Sandhills Center came together in mutual agreement to build on their collective strengths and administer state and Medicaid-funded Mental Health/Substance Use Disorder/Intellectual Developmental Disabilities/Traumatic Brain Injury services and supports in 46 counties in the combined region effective January 1, 2024. For members and providers, the consolidation transition will occur on February 1, 2024. Under the agreement, Trillium was named the surviving entity of consolidation. No later than January 2025, this new consolidated entity will re-brand under a new name.

NCDHHHS has developed Fact Sheets to provide additional information related to the Consolidation for providers and Members/Recipients.

New Medicaid Expansion Enrollment Dashboard, Updated Monthly with Enrollee Data

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services launched a dashboard to track monthly enrollment in Medicaid for people eligible through expansion.

More than 600,000 North Carolinians are newly eligible for health coverage through the historic expansion of NC Medicaid. The NC Medicaid Expansion Enrollment Dashboard offers a detailed overview of enrollment trends in newly eligible adults ages 19-64 who can now apply for full health care coverage.

On day one, there were nearly 273,000 people enrolled and covered by Medicaid expansion, most of which were part of the family planning population who were automatically moved to full coverage. The platform provides a look at enrollee characteristics that include age, race, ethnicity and other demographics. Information on percentage of eligible adults newly enrolled in Medicaid by county and type of health plan, as well as specifically within rural areas of the state, is also shared.

NCDHHS Committed to Improving Children’s Behavioral Health, Announces Details of New Children and Families Specialty Health Plan

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services is committed to improving youth behavioral health in North Carolina and is leveraging the historic investment from the NC General Assembly to ensure everyone receives the care they need when and where they need it.

One of the key initiatives is the Children and Families Specialty Plan — a first of its kind statewide health plan to ensure access to comprehensive physical and behavioral health services for Medicaid-enrolled children, youth and families served by the child welfare system. NCDHHS released an updated policy paper about the plan, as NCDHHS prepares to launch the plan later this year.

"Too many children are struggling to access the mental health care and support they need to thrive — stuck in cycles of conflict at school, in emergency rooms without access to necessary care and sleeping in child welfare offices," said Health and Human Services Secretary Kody H. Kinsley. "The Children and Family Specialty Plan is a first-of-its-kind innovation and part of our broader strategy to improve youth behavioral health and secure a healthy future for generations of North Carolinians."

The 5K is called "The Trudge" to commemorate the 3 miles that clients walk every day in their recovery journey.

The Trudge 5K starts and finishes at The Healing Place of New Hanover County. The course takes participants to Greenfield Lake for a scenic out and back on the Greenfield Lake multi-use trail.

This course is stroller friendly.

After your 5K, stay for the big one year celebration which includes free food, community vendors, and more.

The Healing Place is truly is where hope is found. THPNC provides food, shelter, clothing, and recovery services at no cost to the client. All a person has to have is a desire to get sober. Every dollar raised by THPNC impacts a person either struggling with homelessness or active addiction.
