LANL: Construction equipment mobilizes on NM 4 -

What you need to know

Plan ahead - Speed limits will be reduced to 35 miles per hour

Beginning the week of March 13-17, drivers on New Mexico State Road 4 (NM 4) can expect to see work crews mobilize equipment on-site in advance of construction at the intersection of NM 4 and East Jemez Road. Construction is scheduled to begin the week of March 20, weather permitting.

During construction, all existing travel lanes on NM 4 and East Jemez Road will remain open during peak travel times: 6:30-8:30 a.m. and 4-6 p.m., Monday-Friday. Any lane closures will occur during non-peak hours and flaggers will direct traffic.

Speed limits will be reduced to 35 miles per hour throughout the construction zone. Motorists are encouraged to slow down and give themselves additional time to reach their destination.

Live in White Rock? LANL employees are encouraged to take Pajarito Road to avoid the construction zone.

Other alternatives to reduce congestion during construction:

The more single occupant vehicles that can be reduced during construction, the less of an impact the construction will have on travel delays. Employees are encouraged to use alternative transportation options as much as possible:
