Living in Hope, Growing in Faith
Celebrating God's Love

June 2, 2023

Sunday June 4

The 8:00 a.m. service will move out to the patio for the summer. It will be the same Rite I service, just outside. We will stay on the patio until the end of August. In case of inclement weather, we will move back in to the church.

The 10:30 a.m. service will begin with a service of Choral Matins in celebration of Trinity Sunday. Choral Matins is the morning counterpart to Choral Evensong. Music will include the Morning Service in B-flat by Charles Villiers Stanford.

The youth group will gather at Pastor Vicki’s house (3324 Kioka Ave.) at 1 p.m. for an end of the year cook-out. Parents and siblings are invited as well. Please let Pastor Vicki know how many people from your family are coming (rector@saintmarkscolumbus.org).

Farmer's Market

The Upper Arlington Farmer's Market takes place in the Tremont Center parking lot on Wednesdays from 3 - 6 p.m.

We are opening the church and welcoming people to our space, bathrooms etc... during this time.

We will do Compline at 6:00 p.m. as well.

Please sign up to help. Keys, training and all the supplies you need will be provided.

You can also just drop by on Wednesdays and check things out.

Grief Support Group

Saint Mark's Grief Support Group will meet on June 10th and 24th at 10 am in the church office. No registration or commitment is required. Please join us in the company of others who are working through loss. Contact Brenda Hammersley for more information at 614-330-1436.

Mission Day Camp

Wednesdays in June. Your 6th to 12th grade youth can sign up for one, two, three or all four weeks. Parents are welcome to participate too.

We will gather at 9:30 a.m. and be finished by 3 p.m. each day.

For each week everyone should bring:

Work Gloves

A refillable water bottle (with water in it)

A packed lunch

The projects are:

June 14 - Upper Arlington & West Columbus seniors. We will be doing yard work for senior citizens. Gather at Saint Mark's Episcopal Church, 2151 Dorset Rd., Columbus, 43221. We will divide up into teams and travel to the various houses.

June 21 - Cat Welfare. We are going to help organize their resale store and then travel to socialize (aka play with) the cats. Drop off at the Catique, 1005 Mediterranean Ave, Columbus 43229.

June 28 - Procter Center - We are traveling down to Procter Camp & Conference Center to do some work and spend some time with the Senior High campers.

There is a link to the registration form here and on the front page of Saint Mark’s web-site.

UA Pride

The Upper Arlington Pride Festival is Sunday June 11 from 1 to 5 p.m. at Sunny 95 Park & the Amelita Mirolo Barn off Windham Road. Note the change in location.

Saint Mark’s is a sponsor of UA Pride and will have a table at the event.

Staffing Saint Mark’s table is fun. We hand out stickers and fans and post-it notes and temporary tattoos and smile and tell people that God loves them.

If you would like to take a turn staffing Saint Mark’s table, come to the festival, find the table and offer to take a turn. Pastor Vicki, Cheryl Boop, Ted Meyers and Andi Waller will be there. We won’t leave you by yourself.

Even if you don’t want to staff the table, drop by and say hello.

If you are coming to UA Pride or planning on attending either the Columbus Pride Mass on June 15 at 6 p.m. at Trinity, Columbus or marching in the Columbus Pride parade on Saturday June 17, you might want a t-shirt that identifies you.

We have created a graphic that you can have printed on a t-shirt at Cafe Press or other similar site. It will look best on a white t-shirt. We don't have time to do bulk orders before the Pride events this year, but there is time for you to get a t-shirt if you want one.

You can get the graphic for the T-shirts here.

If you want to help with the Pride Festival itself, Rainbow UA is looking for help with set up, clean up, and particularly with kids and teen activities and the cotton candy machine.

You can sign-up here.

Herb Garden

We are growing some herbs in the garden box just outside the office door. There is basil, parsley, rosemary, chives, thyme and lavender in the box. On each side of the box is a container with small plastic bags and some scissors. Through the summer you are invited to cut some herbs to take home with you for your summer cooking.

Vocal Recital

At 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 10, tenor Andrew LeVan will sing a special vocal recital at Saint Mark’s. Andrew is a tenor in the Saint Mark’s Choir and also sings regularly

with LancasterChorale.

He will be joined by pianist Olivia Connors for a program of works by George Bizet, Francis Poulenc, Benjamin Britten, and Gerald Finzi, as well as a

few other surprises.

Admission is free. Donations will be received in support of the music ministry at Saint Mark’s. Join us for an evening of beautiful vocal music!

Remembering Pat Kirkley &

Michael Dick

Funeral services for Pat Kirkley will be Friday, June 9 at 2 p.m. at Saint Mark's. There will be a reception in the parish hall following the service.

The Celebration of Life for Michael Dick will be Monday, June 19 from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Columbus Zoo Waters Edge Boardwalk Venue.

Sunday Worship Schedule

Should I wear a mask at church?

As long as Franklin County remains at low or medium community level of COVID spread, according to the CDC, masks will be optional.

Should we return to a high community level, masks will be required.

You can find the community level here.

We will continue to have masks available for those who wish to use them.
