Jofa and Sharsheret are pleased to offer a
two-part training course on Tuesday and Thursday August 8th & 10th from 10am-11:30am EST via Zoom, to provide Orthodox women in self-identified leadership roles (broadly including communal organizations and educational institutions) with information and resources needed to expertly support women facing breast cancer or ovarian cancer, as they navigate their cancer experiences. With one in eight women diagnosed with breast cancer during her lifetime, we have an important opportunity to provide expert emotional, communal, and spiritual support. Each participant will receive a certificate of completion.
This training covers topics such as:
- Understanding cancer
- Where being Jewish intersects with a cancer diagnosis
- How cultural and religious nuances impact cancer diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship
- Spiritual concerns
- Cultivating a caring community to support those affected by cancer and their communities-at-large
Please note that, while this program will include general discussion of foundational halakhic issues like
bikur cholim, our obligation to care for our bodies, and other halakhic issues that might arise during a cancer experience, we will advise that women confer with their own
halakhic authorities to address any specific personal halakhic concerns related to cancer.
Please complete the form below to register.
