On this day, let us reflect on the gains we have made and recommit ourselves to the work that remains.

Did You Know?

Americans celebrated the first MLK Day in the 1980s, with George W. Bush signing the MLK Jr. Federal Holiday Commission Extension Act in 1989, making the third Monday in January a permanent Federal holiday.

In 1994, MLK Jr. Day was designated as a National Day of Service: "A Day On - Not A Day Off".

The idea behind the National Day of Service is to encourage all Americans to improve their communities through volunteering.

By joining together in service, the attorneys of AMISTAD can help transform lives, build bridges, and heal divides.

Remember to MAKE IT A DAY ON, NOT A DAY OFF, for you and those around you.
