What is a CSA? CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. It is a farming model based on developing a direct relationship between farmers and their community. A weekly box of lovely seasonal veggies ( and strawberries!) is the glorious result. This is an opportunity to support a farmer by purchasing in advance the most seasonal and successful crops available while acknowledging that some crops will not always work out with the endless variables at play. The good news is, we grow so many different things you may never notice our secret failings.
The CSA will run April 12th through July 26th (16 weeks). Like last year, we are offering a Home Delivery option and 2 pick up sites in Durham (West Durham and South Durham). We had the last two calves of our spring calving; both cute and healthy. It's nice for the mothers to have them before the heat of the summer- if that ever comes.
FARMHOUSE CHEESE: We will have our Fresh Mozzarella; use it with tomatoes or melt. Other cheeses are savory Hickory Grove, Carolina Moon, tangy Dairyland Farmers’ Cheese, Hot Farmers, pungent Danziger, and aged Calvander. New Moon may be ready to sell as well. Farmers and our Mozzarella are made every week, and the flavor of our Jersey cows' milk shines in these.
PASTURED BEEF: Ground Beef is on special 2 for $13.00 or regular price of $7.50. Make lasagne, tacos, hamburgers, or a fabulous cheeseburger with our Hickory Grove cheese. Our herd is Animal Welfare Approved and pasture raised.
WHEY FED PORK: Pork Chops and Spare ribs are back and plenty of sausages for any meal. We also have Bacon, ground pork, and Smoked Ham hocks for cooking greens or beans. Grill some Bratwurst or add Hot Italian to a pizza with our Fresh Mozzarella. See you Saturday!

About Ninth Street Bakery: Determined to change the bread landscape, Ninth Street Bakery was founded by two brothers in 1981 fresh from a stint baking at the Tassajara Zen Center with monk Ed Espe Brown. Bonlee Grown Farm returns this weekend to celebrate the start of summer! Come find flowers that will last all through the season until the first frost. We especially want to highlight Gazanias—also known as the African Daisy, these vibrant orange flowers love the sun and heat. Plus, they are drought-tolerant (so it’s okay if you sometimes forget to water them!)
Pickle special: we should have a variety of pickles available, so prepare for your cookouts by picking up a few jars.

His main crop is heirloom watermelons, including white, yellow, orange, red, and pink varieties, as well as heirloom tomatoes, herbs, and ginger. He uses all parts of the fruit except the outer skin to create delicious and healthy cold pressed juices. | | |

Piedmont Microgreens is an indoor farm located just four miles from the farmer's market! We specialize in microgreens, which are the youngest stage of vegetable crops. Microgreens are great because they're beautiful, tasty, and packed with nutrients. We will be bringing the following microgreens to the market: sunflower shoots, pea shoots, nutrition mix, salad mix, a farmer's choice, and a few specialty varieties, like cilantro, dill, and onion! The nutrition mix is a blend of broccoli, cabbage, and kohlrabi microgreens, while the salad mix is a blend of sunflower shoots, buckwheat, and kale microgreens. The farmer's choice will be a revolving blend of what inspires us each week.

We support our local farmers using local sustainably and organically sourced fruits, including blueberries, apples and more from our no spray estate farm. Only tree ripened apples are used in our ciders with a focus on traditional southern heritage cider apples. All of our ciders and wines contain little to no residual sugar and are low calorie. As an experimental winery we have almost no rules with the exceptions being we never fine, filter or pasteurize any of our ciders or wines.
