Dear Gretchen,

Spring is officially here and of course that includes lots and lots of Coachella Valley windy weather; our international music and golf events; and numerous other seasonal activities the Valley is so well known for. We're working on programming for the next few months - including networking events at builder communities; PWB opportunities to engage with fellow members of the industry; and of course, ongoing monitoring of local, state and federal issues. It's a fast-paced working world these days, so engage with our office, our members and the industry to stay connected on all levels.

Shoutout to California Desert Association of Realtors for last week's Economic Summit (their first one) - held at Agua Caliente, with nearly 300 realtors & affiliates in attendance to learn inside knowledge on ways to improve their skills; market analysis for the region and networking opportunities throughout the day. DVBA was a contributor to the information provided under the market analysis segment, providing insight on the housing market in the Valley (issues and progress). Excellent job to CDAR, their Board & Staff for this event. Look forward to seeing what their next "big" program will be!

Sincerely,

Gretchen Gutierrez

DVBA Builds Brighter Futures with Second-Year NAHB Grant

DVBA has been awarded a 2nd Year Grant by NAHB for an ongoing project with Boys & Girls Clubs. We are working to bring the program to one of the East Valley B&G Clubs and will be conducting the projects in mid-summer.

Last year DVBA, together with our PWB Council, held a 3-day project build with Cathedral City B&G Club. We introduced nearly 100 kids, ranging from 1st grade through High School to the construction industry, through the hands-on use of hand tools and other instructional aids.

Elementary aged kids built and completed individual birdhouses and the middle school/high schoolers built and completed 16 Corn Hole boards for use onsite at the Club by all ages. Many of these kids had never held a tool and were thrilled to actually "build" a project with their own hands.

Check out a few of the pictures from last year's build and we will be providing updates through this year's projects - so be sure to stay tuned for those updates.
