I assumed that this trip would feel familiar – walking across Edmund Pettus Bridge, visiting the Greyhound Station where the Freedom Riders were nearly lynched by a mob, seeing the place where the bomb went off at 16th Street Baptist that killed four little girls. But in every place, it felt new.

Perhaps it helped that our group included my 13 year-old daughter, whose maturity and thoughtfulness made for some unforgettable, shared moments. But I think it had more to do with the fact that the stories of these places are the sort we can return to again and again and always find new power. There is no bottom to this well, for every time we return to witness courage and...

May Rosalie’s soul, and the souls of all the departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace and rise in glory.

Legacy Society: Dispelling Myths

Myth: The Transfiguration Legacy Society is a secret, exclusive for rich older parishioners.

Fact: The Legacy Society includes all parishioners who have chosen to name the Endowment Fund in their estate – age and one's financial circumstances do not determine ability to participate.  The Legacy Society is open to all.

Myth:  I can't participate -- I may not have any money left when I pass away.

Fact: May” is the key word. None of us know when we will depart this life or how much money we may have at the time. "Intent" is what's important. Is it your intent to leave a gift to your Church family?  The Declaration of Intent you put on file with the church is your promised bequest and can be changed at any time.

Children & Youth Illuminating The Word

We invite all children of the parish to join us on Wednesdays in Lent beginning March 1 to create our own version of The Saint John’s Bible. Children will use scripture to create their own beautiful art and illuminations. We will combine all our works in to one collection to share with the congregation and use during Children’s Chapel.

Our older Youth will engage in creating poems, devotions, and prayers based on Lenten readings from The Saint John’s Bible

Childcare will be available during our Wednesday evening activities but registration is needed so we can prepare.

Kids and their families are invited to experience an amazing and thought-provoking Easter journey together. Families will walk together from station to station, experiencing this journey that provides opportunities for families to discuss their faith. We ask families attending to bring a picnic blanket that will be used at each station and for our pizza picnic at the close of our time together.
