May 2023

We are excited to share with you some upcoming free events, as well as a FREE opportunity for you to show appreciation for a teacher in your life! Keep reading to learn more!

Upcoming Events:

We are hosting a "Be Kind to Your Mind...Be Kind to Others" event on Saturday May 20th from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m. This is our first free public event being held in Howard County and we hope you'll join us! May is Mental Health Awareness month and we know that in order for individuals to be kind to others, they must first be kind to themselves. And one way we can be kind to ourselves is by taking care of our own mental health. Join us for this fun, interactive event to learn strategies for being kind to yourself and others.

Recent Events

We've been busy! On March 31st, our Founder, Kristen led two Let’s Celebrate Differences assemblies at Centennial Lane Elementary school in Ellicott City, Maryland. We were thrilled to be one small part of their school-wide initiative to spread kindness and celebrate diversity.

This assembly seeks to show that differences are something to celebrate, not ridicule. Using a series of children’s books, music, discussion, and interactive demonstrations, we get kids excited about their differences and those of their peers.

This was KGH's first assembly in Howard County! We love that our message is spreading further! We are looking to be able to offer more assemblies, more often. If you are interested in bringing an assembly to your school, or, you'd like to be trained to lead these assemblies, please contact us at info@kindnessgrowshere.com.

Then, on April 28th and 29th we held events at Deale Library and Brooklyn Park Library respectively. These were our "Kindness Collaboration" events. We loved partnering with Anne Arundel County Public Library, the Infinite Love Project, and South County is Kind to bring these events to two new commuities. The goal was to inspire those in attendance to want to collaborate with others to spread kindness in their community. We were thrilled to have some of our Kid Kindness Grant winners in attendance to share about their kindness projects. Additionally, every person in attendance enjoyed free pizza and got to paint their own "Be Kind" sign.

Left to right: Kid Kindness Grant winners: Ameka McCullough, Olivia Howard, Alex Kanu, Andrea Reyes-Velasquez, Bryanna Beall, Bixby Coleman, Kristen Caminiti (KGH Founder), Basil Coleman.

Thank A Teacher!!

(We will send a free gift to any educator you tell us to!)

During the month of May, schools all over the Country celebrate "Teacher Appreciation Week" from May 8-12. At Kindness Grows Here we know that the future of our world depends on having kind, dedicated, loving, and effective educators. There are few folks that deserve to be celebrated more than they do! In order to help celebrate educators, fill out this form to tell us about a special teacher in your life.

Thanks to our generous friends at Cardthartic--who also understand the value and importance of educators--we will send one of their beautiful "Educator" cards and magnets to the teacher you nominate. (Yes! Cardthartic generously donated these cards and magnets so we could do this! So, the next time you are sending a card, order from them!) We will include your nomination in the card.

Spread some love (for free!) to an eductor you know!

Celebrate Differences! Order a T-Shirt!

We designed these t-shirts last year prior to the Annapolis Pride Parade that we participate in every year (that we will be participating in again this year on June 3rd!). We've had numerous requests from folks for an opportunity to order their own shirt. So, here's your chance!
