Contractors successfully demolished a portion of the railroad bridge near Edinger Avenue last weekend despite weather challenges. The concrete barrier on the east side of the bridge was demolished over two nights. The area was then cleared before train service resumed Monday morning.
This demolition was different compared to the MacArthur Boulevard and Edinger Avenue bridge barrier demolitions that occurred last year. With railroad tracks beneath the bridge, crews used a bucket attached to an excavator to catch debris from the top of the freeway to protect the tracks. Crews will now begin to reconstruct the railroad bridge.
Kudos to our contractors! We also appreciate the public’s patience in allowing them to complete the work safely and efficiently.
