A passionate alum Saransh Choudhury, (BE Metallurgical and Materials 2007) has been donating $25 monthly to IITRHF since September 2018. Drop by drop that amount has added to a decent sum of $1,425.

Here a a message from Saransh to share with all fellow alums:

IIT Roorkee and its alumni have had a tremendous impact on me and my family. Surrounded by extremely hard working fellow students, Roorkee inculcated a sense of confidence to take on challenges in future. Growing up in a remote small town in coastal Odisha, I had never dreamed to criss cross Atlantic and Pacific oceans and experience the beauty and diversity of the world. Roorkee was an event in my-life’s journey which transformed me and consequently my family.

I give back a small amount to IIT Roorkee Heritage Foundation every month to remind myself of the role IIT Roorkee played in my life. I hope my small contribution benefits current students and also inspires other alumni to give back in whatever form possible. Forever grateful to my alma mater.

When one sets their eyes on a goal, the only obstacle to achieving it is self-doubt. Amit Singhal (BE Computer Science 1989) and his wife Shilpa refused to be held back by doubt when they dreamt of providing bright underprivileged children with world-class education.

Recognizing the transformative power of education, they knew that every child deserves the opportunity to flourish, regardless of their financial background and set up Sitare Foundation few years ago to fund education of bright students in grades 6-12

They realized that educating to 12th grade is good but building a university is even better, giving birth to Sitare University in 2022, a truly unique institution that empowers students with Computer Science courses and life skills for the real world. Currently running its pioneer batch, Sitare University has broken ground with its cutting-edge curriculum designed by academics from Stanford, Cornell and Northwestern as well as top professionals from industry.

Sitare is all set to become a full-fledged private state university with approvals from Madhya Pradesh government and the University Grants Commissions in coming years. For the inaugural batch of 2022-23, students are being hosted at a partner university campus with classes taught by international faculty.
