Commission for Women exhibit recognizes
the 2022 Women's Hall of Fame honorees

The Miami-Dade County Commission for Women celebrated the achievements of women who have made significant contributions to the community by presenting a public exhibit of the 2022 Miami-Dade County Women's Hall of Fame inductees. The event took place April 10 in the lobby of the Stephen P. Clark Center in Miami.
Chairman Oliver G. Gilbert, III, and Commissioner Eileen Higgins presented a proclamation featuring this year's national women’s history month theme: "Celebrating Women Who Tell Our Stories." The proclamation highlights the importance of recognizing the vital role that women have played in shaping our history and society.

U.S. Attorney visits the Office of Community Advocacy | |
On April 18 Markenzy Lapointe, the United States Attorney for the Southern District of Florida, met with staff from the Office of Community Advocacy as part of his community engagement efforts. U.S. Attorney Lapointe was nominated by President Biden, confirmed by the Senate, and sworn in on January 8, 2023. He is the first Black person and Haitian-American to serve as U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Florida.
The mission of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Florida is to enforce and defend the laws of the U.S. through the prosecution of criminal cases brought by the Federal government and the prosecution and defense of civil cases in which the U.S. is a party. The Southern District of Florida extends from Key West north to Sebastian.

Goodwill Ambassadors at the
Miami-Dade Countryfest

Vice Chairman Anthony Rodriguez hosted the Miami-Dade Countryfest April 14 - April 16 where 40 Miami-Dade County Goodwill Ambassadors assisted with crowd control, the kids' zone, and parking management. This year’s livestock event in Tropical Park was filled with family fun, music, vendors, food, rides, entertainment, and spectacular horse shows, performances, and a rodeo! | |
