WATER EDUCATION CLINICS FOR OC SCOUTS
Girl Scouts Spots Still Available!
MWDOC is proud to bring experiential water education to Orange County Scouts this spring! We’re excited to announce that our Soil and Water Conservation Merit Badge Clinic for Scouts BSA, held in partnership with Trabuco Canyon Water District, is officially full and set to take place on April 19.
Meanwhile, spaces are still available for our Water Resources and Conservation Patch Clinic for Orange County Girl Scouts on May 10! Co-hosted with the Orange County Water District (OCWD), this engaging clinic includes a tour of OCWD’s Groundwater Replenishment System and fun, hands-on activities designed to inspire future water stewards.

CHILDREN'S WATER EDUCATION FESTIVAL
April 23-24, 2025
Inspiring young minds, one drop at a time! MWDOC is excited to participate in Orange County Water District’s 28th Annual Children’s Water Education Festival! This award-winning event educates third through fifth graders on local water issues through fun, interactive activities. Join MWDOC at our immersive learning station, where students will build their own water delivery and storage systems while discovering the importance of providing a clean, safe, and reliable water supply. The festival is free for Orange County schools!

MWDOC VISITS WASHINGTON, D.C.
February 24-27, 2025
Championing OC water priorities in the nation’s capital! MWDOC staff and Director Crane had a successful trip to Washington, D.C., meeting with members of Congress, including Representatives Dave Min, Lou Correa, Young Kim, and Senior Leadership from the Bureau of Reclamation on key water initiatives. MWDOC shared highlights from the Water Loss Control & Leak Detection and Turf Replacement programs and emphasized the need for a change in tax code to exempt water rebates from personal income taxes. MWDOC looks forward to advancing sustainable water solutions to meet the needs of all Orange County residents.

GIRL SCOUTS LEARN TO BE WATER STEWARDS

MWDOC educates the next generation of environmental leaders! On Saturday, March 22, MWDOC hosted a Water Resources and Conservation Patch clinic for Orange County Girl Scouts alongside Mesa Water District and Inside the Outdoors staff at the NEW Mesa Water Education Center. By participating, the Girl Scouts gained valuable insights into water conservation and sustainability, equipping them with the skills to be lifelong water stewards and make a positive impact in their community.

To Conserve Water Under SB 606

Orange County is finding new ways to save water and meet Senate Bill 606’s goals as the climate gets hotter and drier. People use an average of 129.2 gallons of water per day, with 68% going to outdoor watering. Projects like Groundwater Replenishment System wastewater recycling help, but every gallon saved makes a difference.
