As Funding Arts Broward enters its 21st year of supporting the arts in Broward County, thank you so much for your continuing support.
This year, we honored the vision of Francie Bishop Good and our founding members while looking forward to the
future of FAB with new initiatives. Together with several of our current board members, FAB hosted a luncheon on January 29th, to say thank you to this visionary group of arts supporters and to share with them our progress on
several fronts.
Grants: FAB Grants Program is strong with a record $385,450 awarded for programs, exhibits, performances, and
education programs staged throughout 2024. Led by grant co-chairs, Judy Zucker and Scott Clearwater, the volunteer screening teams have begun the process to review grant requests for 2025. A record 84 grant applications were submitted, including grants in the arts education category which doubled from last year. All signs point to another record year for grants.
New Initiatives Task Force: Funding Arts Broward (FAB) announced the formation of a new task force aimed at
identifying ways to better support the arts community in Broward last summer. Led by FAB's immediate past president, Ed Hashek, the team of ten members has been conducting extensive research on the needs of local arts organizations, trends in arts support, and gaps in funding. With a focus on increasing the impact and FAB and its partners, the task force is set to bring recommendations to the board soon. Stay tuned for updates on this exciting initiative to ensure a brighter future for the arts in Broward.
"Be the Spark" campaign: The campaign launched in October 2022 with a goal to raise $3 million in the next five years. The success of the campaign, raising more than$2.2 million to date, has enabled FAB to increase the grant pool, start an endowment fund at the Community Foundation of Broward, strengthen FAB as a nonprofit
organization and invest in new initiatives in the future. One of the most important measures to me is the support received by FAB members. More than 85 FAB members have contributed to the campaign so far. Campaign co-chairs Nancy Bryant and Cindy Eden would be happy to share more about the campaign goals with FAB members, prospective members, and potential community partners. Please reach out to them with questions and ideas.
All this is happening along with an interesting mix of FAB programs and events. See the information on upcoming
events below, such as our Annual Meeting on March 12th and the Grantee reception on May 9th.
Thanks again for your support as we paint a bright portrait for the future of Funding Arts Broward.
