Call for Applications

DAAD Post-Doctoral Fellows at the School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) 2024/25


The Paul H. Nitze School for Advanced International Studies (SAIS) is pleased to announce the opportunity for outstanding scholars to conduct research in Washington, D.C., on “The United States, Europe, and World Order.” During the academic year 2024-2025 up to two post-doctoral fellowships will be awarded for a ten (10) month period from September 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025. Research and related activities will focus on “the roles of the United States and Germany at a crucial moment in world history.”

Networking Tour and Program

DAAD AInet Fellowship


The DAAD AInet Fellowship is awarded twice a year to a group of outstanding international early career researchers in the field of artificial intelligence. Awardees will be invited to join the Postdoctoral Networking Tour in Artificial Intelligence (Postdoc-NeT-AI), a two-step networking program that offers participants the opportunity to interact face-to-face with leading researchers in Germany, with the aim of initiating collaborations, and creating new research and career opportunities. Additionally, awardees are included in the DAAD AInet Fellows & Alumni Network, offering long-term access to German AI research and bringing together bright researchers from all around the world.

For Undergraduate Pell Grant Recipients

Gilman-DAAD Germany Scholarships


The Gilman-DAAD Germany Scholarship Program provides 40 additional scholarships for U.S. undergraduate students per year who are recipients of Federal Pell Grants to study and/or intern for academic credit in Germany through the Gilman Program. This deadline is for in-person programs or internships that begin between May 1, 2024 and April 30, 2025.

Sustainable Food Cultures


The Sustainable Food Cultures workshop funded by DAAD connects alumni of German institutions of higher education and/or research from diverse disciplines and countries in recognizing past achievements to explore foodways that serve a future-proof tomorrow. If you are an alumnus/alumna of a German institution of higher education and/or research with an interest in food culture and sustainability, this program is for you!

Online Panel Discussion

#DWIHzeitgeist –Science Diplomacy in Practice


Join the DWIH New York and UAS7 – German Universities of Applied Sciences for their #DWIHzeitgeist series to learn about ways that science diplomacy plays out in Germany and the US. The panel explores the relationship between science diplomacy and applied research on shared sustainability questions in Germany and the United States. The purpose of the event is to highlight various aspects of ways that science diplomacy plays out in each country through cross-national applied research – especially in support of sustainability at the local level.

STEP USA

Pitch Night February 2024


The German American Chamber of Commerce, Inc. (GACC), the DWIH New York and the German Consulate General New York are excited to host the STEP USA University Program Pitch Night on Wednesday, February 14th, 2024! They are proud to welcome a startup cohort from Germany to the Startup Entrepreneurship Program (STEP USA) in New York to a 3-day strategy development boot-camp supporting promising German startups and their expansion to the US. During the famous STEP USA Pitch Night at the German Consulate General New York, the cohort will present their ideas to potential customers and partners, followed by time to network over snacks and drinks. A jury consisting of venture capital investors will be providing direct feedback.
