A Wealth of Learning and Gratitude

Lynn F. Ouellet of Ocean Shores, WA cannot truly quantify the effect of what knowing more of the whole truth about the racial history of America has meant to her, but "I think I am different now, compared to “me” at the start of this course." She will look at things in the future with a different eye, and will look for ways to contribute to racial equity and equality. "I will definitely read all the Sacred Writings with a greater appreciation of what they mean to all of humanity."

Lynn Jaluvka

Learner Inspired to Research Early Baha'i in Durham, NC

Lynn Jaluvka took the course Writing Histories and Biographies in order to research the life of Mary Arch, who may have been the first Baha'i in Durham, N.C. She researched ancestry.com, newspapers.com, and public records, including the Orange County Registrar of Deeds, and received valuable information from the National Baha'i Archives. She sent a message to the Triangle Bahá’í Listserve in January, celebrating the 100th anniversary of Mary’s declaration with a request that the friends keep her in mind to help her “carry the message," and she is drafting an article for Bahaipedia about Mary.

Course Provides Information to Enable Conversations about Racism

From the course on Anti-Black Racism, Ruth Hall gained knowledge of the systemic, egregiously effective methods that kept a great share of humanity from rights and assistance that belong to every soul. She has been able to have conversations with family and other members of the community, but also with friends and neighbors—some of whom, especially those from a minority background, were aware of the history of specific methods of oppression.
