With the number of cases of COVID-19 decreasing across campus and in the community, UCSF has recently revised its COVID-19 guidance policies to align with current public health orders. Full details are available on the UCSF COVID-19 Resources webpage.
Effective Monday, April 3, 2023, Medical Education will be adopting the following policies in line with the campus guidance. We are basing our decisions on the following principles:
- As a school within San Francisco and UCSF, we follow public health and campus guidelines.
- Where flexibility about health guidelines is allowed, we support and respect individuals’ decisions about their health.

Other Key Changes to UCSF COVID-19 Policies (Effective April 3, 2023)
-
Effective April 3, daily screening with the Digital Screener is no longer required.
- Patients and visitors are no longer required but strongly recommended to wear masks in health care areas.
Please continue to take extra precautions to ensure your health and follow UCSF’s safety rules to prevent transmission of COVID-19:
- If you have COVID-related symptoms, get a COVID test and stay home.
-
If you have an exposure to COVID-19, use the Digital Screener for guidance on testing if you will be working or learning on-site.
-
If you have had a recent COVID infection, use the Digital Screener and follow directions that include waiting for 10 days or returning after five (5) days with a negative antigen test.
