EASTER BREAK

A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Dear OLQA School Community,

Please join me in wishing our Junior High Academic Decathlon Team lots of success when they compete this Saturday, March 2 at Santa Margarita Catholic High School.  There will be a special blessing upon the team at the School Mass tomorrow morning.

Next week, the 8th grade class will be traveling to Philadelphia and Washington D.C. as part of their graduation celebration. We ask that you keep all of us in your prayers. I am blessed to be joining them on this learning adventure to some of our national historic sites.

Blessings,

Dr. Ramon S. Morales

This Saturday a team of 10 of our 7th and 8th graders will be competing in the Annual Catholic Schools Academic Junior Decathlon at Santa Margarita Catholic High School. This year's theme is Our Wondrous World, which has been the focus on their study material. Our Decathletes have been studying together since the fall and have been coached by a team of OLQA faculty and parents. At the event, the team will compete together in two team events: logic and super quiz events. Then, eight members will compete in their specialty subject (Religion, Social Studies, Fine Arts, Science, Math, English, Literature and Current Events).

Tomorrow morning at the 8:30 a.m. School Mass, please join us as these Decathletes receive a special blessing: Matthew Aubol, Cianna Carlos, Evie De Roche, Nina Kabutey, Emma Kay, Grace Mang, Liam Roberson. Darren delos Santos, Kaila Schweitzer, and Landon Snyder. We are so proud of their dedication and hard work! GO ANGELS!

Our wonderful PTO Enrichment Chairs Domini Giachetti and Ashley Ortwein have organized a fun week for our students to celebrate Read Across America!

READING BINGO

Students can visit the library all week during recess to play READING BINGO with a chance to win a Scholastic book. Their mission is to get BINGO by completing various tasks: read with a hat on, read to a friend, read under a table, read a book with rhymes and more! PREVIEW the Reading BINGO game with your children and encourage them to join the fun!

BOOK TALKS

Teachers will incorporate BOOK TALKS into next week's curriculum. In different creative ways, students will share their favorite book, let friends know why the love a book, relate the author's message, and why they recommend it.

FANCY NANCY ILLUSTRATOR VISIT — Thursday, March 7

New York Times internationally best-selling illustrator of the Fancy Nancy series, Robin Preiss Glasser will be on campus Thursday, March 7 and offer a presentation and discussion of creating children's books.
