Storm Damage Relief

St. John's West Point, one of our sister parishes in the convocation, has begun relief efforts in their community after last week's tornado. Thankfully, neither St. John's nor St. Mark's suffered damage to their buildings. However, flooding, washed-out roads, and damage to homes, churches, and workplaces are formidable in Troup County. A dam breach has left much of Chambers County, AL without water.

Members of St. John's in West Point are making plans to support a nearby nursing home, set up their parish hall as a respite station for relief workers, and support other efforts in their community as needed.

Any funds given above what is needed by St. John's for their relief

work will go to community-wide relief.

This is to churches in the Chattahoochee Valley Convocation to let you know about this opportunity. If you'd like to support St. John's in this ministry, feel free to send a gift from your congregation

directly to St. John's.

Rector’s Discretionary Fund Needs Bolstering

In keeping with Church Canon, St. Nicholas has a Rector’s Discretionary Fund to meet, confidentially, critical needs of the poor in our community. Payments are not made to the individual directly but to the

landlord, utility, or other provider.

Chattahoochee Valley Episcopal Ministries provides similar

support throughout our convocation.

The St. Nichlas account has always been funded by designated gifts, occasional loose offerings, or services performed for weddings and funerals. For some time, St. Nicholas has received a sizeable,

monthly gift to the Fund. The gift has not been renewed this year and

other donations are slim.

As a stopgap, the Vestry has decided to assign all cash loose offerings to the discretionary fund account until gifts resume at usual levels or other sources are identified. Currently, loose offerings are very small

so we also asking for larger gifts in order to meet the

appeals that St. Nicholas receives.

Change to Tai Chi schedule.

Tai Chi, hosted by Lynn Norris, will start meeting on Thursdays at 10:00. All classes in April will be REVIEW for those already participating if we have new class members who need

foundational principals.

If you have an event coming up, an announcement you'd like to share, or have recently experienced a birth, death, or sickness and would like some EXTRA prayers!! Please send them to contact@stnicholashamilton.org or call the office at 706-628-7272.
