Future U Fun Facts!

Did You Know? Students in the '60s Built the USU for YOU!

Long before today's Beach students walked campus, the students of the 1960s were thinking ahead! in 1965, they voted to raise their own fees to build the USU--even though most of them would never get to use it. The referendum passed with a whopping 74% approval, proving that students believed in the power of a student center to create connections beyond the classroom. By 1969, construction was underway, laying the foundation (literally!) for the campus community we have today.

The USU wasn't just about adding a building--it was about creating a space where students could grow socially, intellectually and culturally. So next time you grab a coffee, meet friends or study in the USU, remember: students just like you made it happen!
