A PUBLICATION OF THE NORMANDALE PTO

A DECEMBER TO REMEMBER

No, not those annual year-end car lot sales events. We’re talking about the feelings of cheer, kindness, giving and joy that rise to the top for all of us during the final festive month on the calendar. Regardless of spiritual beliefs, cultural traditions, or your secret affinity for made-for-TV holiday movies, December brings the best out of Normandale – case in point, The Donation Drive lead by our 5th Grade Ambassadors! This school wide initiative is a fantastique way for all of our students to get involved by donating items or helping to assemble kits for the Children's Minnesota and People Serving People organizations. SUPPORTING OUR COMMUNITY

Mme Graser's 1st Grade Class

Mme Graser's 1st grade class hand tied 26 blankets to donate to patients at the HCMC pediatric ICU who need a warm blanket during their stay. The students also made handprinted water color cards. A Child Life Specialist from HCMC visited the class to talk with the students about how their project would positively impact patients. This was a great lesson in making real world connections to others in need.

ROSETTA WICART

First Grade – Graser

I'm originally from Tours, in the center of France, in the region where there are castles and vineyards. I currently live in Pau for my studies at the University. My parents live in Royan by the sea and I like to visit them to spend time with my family and enjoy the beach. I have two older brothers, Victor and Simon. I love spending time with nature and animals, playing sports, and having quality time with my friends; they mean a lot to me. When I'm on my own, I love baking, watching films, reading and listening to music.

Favorite Foods: I don't have a favorite, but I prefer salty foods to sweet ones. I eat everything and love to try new flavors. I'm looking forward to discovering American specialties and sharing my culinary culture.

In The US: During my stay, I want to visit and experience as many things as I can. Attending sports and cultural events of all kinds. Familiarizing myself with American culture and lifestyles. I'm excited about everything! I cannot wait to discover new people, new places and new scenery.

I am looking forward to discovering the school, the state of Minnesota, and the people I will be spending the year with. It's going to be a great learning experience and I can't wait to get started!

EDINA EDUCATION FUND

The Edina Education Fund is an independent non-profit organization dedicated to the continued academic excellence of the Edina Public Schools.

The Ed Fund secures private, supplemental funding to support valuable education experiences and innovative projects in the Edina Public Schools. Funds raised augment school system revenues that are provided by taxes, state aid, and other parent and student led fundraising efforts. The Ed Fund is necessary to help ensure the caliber of educational programs we have come to expect of the Edina Public Schools. Your support means greater academic opportunities for all students, today and into the future.

We are fortunate to be part of the Edina community that has a strong, valued and well-respected school system. However, to protect and enhance the value of our homes and property and the quality of life we enjoy, we must further invest in our public school system. Edina Education Fund contributes to the development and financial support of district-wide programs within Literacy, STEAM and Mental Health/Wellness Services for all students and staff.
