Construction Project Halfway Point

Dear Cary Library Community,

I have heard the middle phase of a construction project (the part where it feels like the project has been going on forever but still has a ways to go) called the “Are we there yet?” phase and I must say, that feels about right! We are currently half way through our Lower Level renovation project and we are making good progress. Here are a few highlights:

  • The project to renovate our Children’s and Large Meeting Rooms and to replace the Lower Level HVAC system is progressing as expected.
  • As of this writing, the Department of Public Facilities reports that the project is on time and on budget.
  • Walls are currently going up to create the new spaces (see photos below)
  • Installation of the new HVAC system has begun. The ceilings (including in the Teen Space) are open to facilitate that work.
  • We’re in the process of selecting furniture, carpeting, and shelving for the spaces (spoiler alert - the Children’s Room carpet is PURPLE!)

At this moment, we are looking at an early September reopening of the Lower Level. Thank you for your continued patience as we head into the second half of this project.

If you have questions, please reach out to me at kstembridge@lexingtonma.gov or 781-698-4401.

Best regards,

Koren Stembridge
