Dear Parents,

This week was filled with silly excitement as our students in our East Wing and K-1 classes celebrated the birthday of Dr. Suess. There were lots of silly hats, socks, and a day when kids dressed up like their favorite career. Next week they will participate in an on site fieldtrip. The Miami Children's Museum will come and do a Dr. Suess show.

Also this week our student in the entire school enjoyed visiting the garden to see all the new things growing. We currently have 2 types of tomato, 2 types of peppers, cabbage, broccoli, and cauliflower. They are all amazed to see the vegetables and how they are growing.

As mentioned in a previous message, there was a problem with the new T-Shirt order. Although we were only able to get them in grey, the staff shirts came and they look wonderful. If you ordered a yellow and do not want it now that the color has changed, no worries. If you did not order, I ordered an extra dozen or so in every size. They should be here by Wednesday. If you ordered, when I let you know they arrived, just ask for the shirts and they will be billed to your Brightwheel account.

This week we had a guest scientist in our Science Lab. Stephany Pineda, mom of Henry and Leonardo joined me in the Science Lab for some pre St. Patricks Day Fun. We recapped the lab from last week on sinking and floating and also introduced the concept of density. The kids mixed oil and colored water with glitter and to see the liquids sitting at different levels. Finally they added an Alka Seltzer tablet and it made bubbles creating a lava lamp effect. Thanks Stephany for coming by. The kids had a blast and learned so much!

Finally, there have been a lot of kids coming to school late in our VPK and K-1 program. All VPK kids are asked to be here no later than 8:45 and all K-1 kids are asked to arrive no later than 8:20 so that they can be ready for instruction at 8:30. Thank you for your help with this.
