Applied Coastal Ecology Field School

Explore the dynamic forest ecosystems of northwest BC, from the lush, dense coastal forests, to the drier, cooler ecosystems of the interior plateau.

Along the way you will develop your skills in plant biology and investigate a diversity of ecosystems including temperate rainforest, boreal forest, alpine, wetlands, estuaries, and coastal habitats. In one of our project-based field schools, you will work as a team to describe and compare the ecology of each major ecosystem visited.

The Associate of Arts and Associate of Science Degrees are provincial credentials offered by many institutions in the BC Transfer System. Coast Mountain College at CICAN's World Congress 2023

In April, Coast Mountain College attended the World Congress 2023. The World Congress is the largest event of its kind and brings together postsecondary leaders from around the world to discuss, share, and expand our collective intelligence. The World Congress 2023 was hosted by Colleges and Institutes Canada (CICan) and the World Federation of Colleges and Polytechnics (WFCP) in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, with the theme Collective Intelligence.

Our Manager of Student Recruitment, Hyeyoung presented 'Building Partnerships for Diversifying the International Student Body and Improving Employability'. The discussion explored the importance of diversity in the international population and how academic institutions can collaborate with global student service providers.

“The CICan pre-conference forum that engages discussion around the unique opportunities and challenges within rural, remote and Northern institutions is one of my favourite conferences. It was my great pleasure to share the benefits of practicing empathy in international recruitment, in particular, for student diversity, and how to build successful partnerships to move forward with this empathy to provide prospective students with real solutions to real challenges of coming to a rural, remote and Northern institution.”, she said.
