EDEMSA Completes ACCC® Reconductor Project in Argentina

With the support of Engineering firm Knight Piésold Consulting, and contractor Pamar Construcciones, Empresa Distribuidora de Electricidad de Mendoza S.A. (EDEMSA) completed an ACCC® Reconductor project in Mendoza City, Argentina. EDEMSA selected Linnet size ACCC® Conductor to increase the capacity of this key 14 kilometer, 132 kV transmission line.

Due to the criticality of this line, all reconductoring was performed during the weekends or at night during the week. In some cases, the lines were sagged in and energized while they remained in the sheave wheels before being clipped off.

ACCC® Conductor for the project was manufactured by IMSA and ACCC® Hardware and accessories were provided by Dervaux. CTC Global’s Regional Director of Business Development, Carlos Fornazzari stated: “This was Edemsa’s first ACCC® Conductor installation and the 12th ACCC® Project in Argentina representing around 350 kilometers of installed product. ACCC® has become very popular with several utilities in Argentia and throughout South America because it provides a very economical and fast way to improve line capacity and reduce energy wasted to excessive line losses. We expect to see deployment of ACCC® Conductor continue to increase in the days ahead.”

CTC Global Participates at Middle East Energy 2023

CTC Global was glad to be part of Middle East Energy 2023 in Dubai after a successful event in 2022. This year’s event was even bigger and better as it focused on the major product sectors that are leading the way in the energy transition including electric power transmission and distribution.

The highlight of this year’s event was the signature of a new agreement between Ducab Metals Business and CTC Global to manufacture energy efficient ACCC® Conductors in the UAE.
We are excited by the great response from all utilities, agencies, regulators, and partners engaging with us at this year’s event. In addition to our partners from the Middle East, we were humbled by visits with our customers and partners from Africa and Eastern Europe. We would also like to thank our partner in the UAE, DUTCO TENNANT LLC, without whom this exhibit would not have been possible. We are looking forward to meeting and interacting with our partners and visitors throughout the year and at future events.
CTC Global Participates at TechAdvantage 2023

CTC Global participated at another very successful TechAdvantage® Experience in Nashville, Tennessee March 6-8. TechAdvantage is the premier conference and expo for electric cooperative engineering, operations, information technology, purchasing and supply management professions in the United States.

A steady number of engineers and managers visited the CTC Global booth to talk with the Business Development advisors about ACCC® Conductor for their transmission and distribution projects.

Reconductoring with ACCC Conductor on existing structures was also a key point in the South Texas Electric Cooperative (STEC) Case Study that was presented and discussed during the CTC Global “Tech Talk” session - as well as during discussions with visitors at CTC Global's booth.
CTC Global Signs Agreement Authorizing Ducab Metals Business to Manufacture ACCC® Conductors in UAE

The agreement was signed at a ceremony on Thursday, March 9th, 2023, at Middle East Energy, which was attended by Mohamed Al Ahmedi, CEO of DMB; Charles Mellagui, CEO of Ducab Cables Business, Steve Jackman, CTC Global’s Senior Vice President for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) and Frank Joseph, Principal Commercial Officer at the U.S. Consulate General in Dubai.

The agreement enables DMB to manufacture CTC Global’s high-capacity, energy-efficient ACCC®️ Conductors in the UAE using composite core imported from the United States, in a bid to help expand the country’s power grid and enhance its efficiency, capacity, and reliability, all the while reducing greenhouse gas emission. The application of these Advanced Conductors will accelerate the integration of renewable generation into the national power system and conserve water consumed at thermal power plants. The agreement will also help CTC and DMB expand their networks and allow DMB to manufacture leading-edge products in the UAE, in line with DMB’s ongoing commitment and support for the ‘Make it in the Emirates’ initiative. ACCC® Conductor is Combatting Climate Change

ACCC® Conductor line loss reductions are currently saving ~10,400,577 MWh per year. At the international average of 0.925 pounds of CO2 per kWh, that equates to reducing CO2 emissions by 4,365,033 metric tons per year. This can be translated into powering 970,656 homes in the U.S. or removing 948,920 cars from the road. Assuming the lines were being fed by thermal power plants that would also equate to saving 124 billion gallons of water – or filling 190,000 Olympic size swimming pools. (The average thermal plant uses ~12,000 gallons of water per MWh). Cumulatively, the ACCC® Conductor has reduced CO2 by ~22,966,850 metric tons.
