Weekly Calendar

Sunday School

Upcoming Events

There will be a Service for Wholeness and Healing each Tuesday evening during Lent. The first service will be Tuesday, February 20 at 5:30 pm.

Wednesdays Together are back! This week we have a selection of various quiches, salad, assorted desserts and chicken tenders (from former Lindsey’s) and fruit for children. If you are going to attend, please let the church office know by Monday so we can get a head count. You may email Kate ([email protected]) or fill out the Friendship Registry at worship on Sunday!

Come one, come all, to the FPC Chili & Crock Pot Cook-off! Bring your best pot of chili or your favorite crock pot dish, and we’ll provide the fixings, drinks, and extras for the kids. We’d love to see you and share a bowl (or more)! Prizes awarded for the best, by popular vote on February 25 at 12:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. If you do plan to bring a pot of chili or crock pot dish, please let Kate know in the church office to make sure we have enough. Chili entries are kept anonymous, so please label your crockpot in an inconspicuous place.

Our next gathering will be lunch in the Fellowship Hall on February 27. We will be having poppy seed chicken casserole, salad, rolls, and dessert. Please email Kate or call the church office to sign up!

Mark your calendars for our upcoming spring events! On March 7, we will meet for a party at John and Maggie Abernathy's. On April 25, we will have a joint party with the Youngish Adults at Brent and Ramey Hardin’s house. Times for both will be announced closer to the dates.

UKirk Ole Miss is looking forward to kicking off another semester together! They are seeking Tuesday night meal providers for their weekly gatherings. You can find the schedule of available dates at ukirkolemiss.org/tuesday-meals, and contact Allison Wehrung with any questions.

The Mission Team meets on the first Monday of each month at 5:00 in the Session Room of the Sanctuary building. Please join us as we seek creative and effective means to serve “the least of these.” If you would like more information, call the church office or contact David Shaw at [email protected].

Need a helping hand?

In Good Order is a group of FPC volunteers available to assist members who may need a little extra help with a yard project or light home repairs. FPC volunteers are available to change light bulbs, replace air filters, repair a dripping faucet, haul off a large limb in the yard, etc.

If you would like assistance or know of someone who does,

please contact the church office at 662-234-1757.

Each Friday volunteers gather at the OU Methodist kitchen for the weekly “Food Rescue.”  Left over produce from the Oxford Community Market as well as surplus food from Greek houses on campus are brought to the kitchen.  From these foods, volunteers assemble meal boxes and distributed them to residents of the various public housing facilities in Oxford.  Volunteers to assemble and deliver the meals are needed Fridays from 2:30-4:00.  From the underground parking garage at OU Methodist, go through the double glass doors to the kitchen.  All able-bodied Presbyterians are invited to assist in this creative food distribution program.  No need to sign up.  Just show up!

Memory Makers of Oxford ([email protected]) is a respite day service for those with memory loss. Structured activities provide enrichment for participants while allowing a much need respite for caregivers to take a break from the daily responsibility of caring for their loved one.  Volunteers to assist with programing and provide snacks are always appreciated.       Call 234-3332 for more information. For a list of needed items, click here.

Leap Frog is an after school literacy and enrichment program for first through third grade students enrolled in the Oxford Elementary and Lafayette County public schools. Students meet with individual tutors at St. Peter's Episcopal Church after school Monday through Thursday throughout the semester. Twice a week volunteers from FPC partner with St. Peter's by providing snack for the sixty students enrolled. To signup click here.

If you are new to the program and would like to partner with a former volunteer, contact one of the following who have provided snacks in the past: Patty Abbott, Beth Andrews, Ann DeVoe, Kathy Griffith, Ramey Hardin, Jessica Holder, Corey Mauldin, Marty Mauldin, Catherine Servati, Andy Spaulding, Lisa Tollison and Pattye Wilson.

LovePacks

(lovepacksoxford.com) is an in-school pantry that provides food for 250 children in the Oxford and Lafayette county schools who experience hunger in their homes. For the month of February, packs of Ramen Noodles are requested. Your contribution may be left at the church office anytime. Questions? Contact

Carmille Hovious at

662-380-1471.

FPC continues to partner with Doors of Hope Transition Ministries by providing office space and hosting the Step 2 Dinner the second Tuesday of each month. New volunteers to host the meals are encouraged. It's easy! Pick up the prepared meal from Larson's, serve the meal in the fellowship hall, and sit at table with new friends. The following have hosted the dinner previously and would be happy to cohost with you. Contact anyone of them with questions you may have.
