Nevins Summer Hours

Mon. - Thurs. 9am-9pm
Fri. - 9am-5pm
Closed Sat. and Sun. beginning June 18 2016
This month we'll be winding down our very successful summer reading programs for teens and children.  Kids have been reading up a storm and counting their hours using our online recording logs.  The competition is fierce, we can't wait to see which school comes out on top for having their students show the highest amount of summer reading.  We're not done yet so keep it up!!
As always, we're here for your vacation needs whether it is a beach read or a DVD for the weekend come in and see what's available or put one on hold.  With our ebook collections you can check out from home as well.  The Nevins is also proud to be a Pokemon stop and gym so if you're in the area we'll be dropping some lures August 12 and 19 at 2pm.  See you soon!
What's So Hot about Solar Power?

Do you have questions about solar energy? Here's the place to ask! "What's So Hot About Solar Power?" will be held on August 9th at 7pm. With everything else going on this summer, don't forget to carve a little relaxation time for yourself!  Our "Adult Coloring Group" is still going strong, and provides a time and space for you to color your stress away.    We have coloring books and pencils available for you to use, or feel free to bring your own.

Read for Fun this Summer - Your School Could Win!

The summer months are a great time to read for fun! Let your child explore areas of fiction and nonfiction that are sparked by their personal interest. Ask a staff member for suggestions. The library also has a variety of book titles on required book lists for students attending private and public schools in Methuen. Create and enter what you are reading for fun on an online log located at www.readsinma.org under the city of Methuen. Enter the title and author of the books you are reading for fun. At the end of the summer, the school that has the most online logged books will get to display the Nevins Reading for Fun Trophy for the upcoming school year. So kids, enter your books and push your school to the top.

Be a Jigsaw Puzzle Solver!

Last fall, we started having jigsaw puzzles available for anyone to help solve in the fireplace room and it has grown to be very popular.  Some people like it as a little break in their studies, or it is something to do while waiting for someone else at the library.  Others simply love jigsaw puzzles, but might not have the time or space to complete them at home.  Several patrons said that while they loved the puzzles, they wished it was easier to work on it with a friend.  We agreed!  In mid-July we brought in a beautiful, handcrafted puzzle table now located by the window in the Fireplace Room.  Now it's much easier to work on the current puzzle with others, with the added  bonus of  better lighting from the window!  We hope you enjoy this new addition.
