Wreaths Across America

Thank you to everyone who participated in Wreaths Across America in December. We certainly saw our community open their hearts, and we saw love through your generous donations, volunteerism, and prayers. Our Wreath Campaign was a huge success, and we were blessed tenfold by our wonderful community through the $5 back program that was made available to us through Wreaths Across America. We are looking forward to using the proceeds from this campaign to support our Military Child Apprecition Week Activities in April, Adopt-A-Soldiers throughout the winter and spring semesters, and finally our end-of-year military families sendoff.

Wreaths Out Day - January 20th

On Saturday, January 20th beginning at 8am, Arlington National Cemetery and Soldiers’ and Airmen’s Home National Cemetery in Washington, DC will hold its annual removal of wreaths, known as Wreaths Out. We encourage you to support this cause by attending the event with family and friends.

There will be no vehicular access permitted on the cemetery grounds until 3 p.m. The public will be permitted to park in the Arlington National Cemetery parking garage on a first-come, first-served basis. Please click here for more information about this special day.

New to the area?

January is the time to set your children up for the spring and summer happenings in the area! January 23rd is when Fairfax County’s Summer Camp (Learn and Grow at a Park Authority Camp! | Park Authority (fairfaxcounty.gov ) registration opens.

There are also local area camps such as Little Theater of Alexandria HOME - LTA (thelittletheatre.com), Jr. Wizards Basketball Camp Washington, D.C. (dcfamily.com), Metropolitan School of the Arts Metro Arts Summer 2022 (metropolitanarts.org), Operation Purple Camps Operation Purple Camp - National Military Family Association.

Also, thinking about a swim club this summer? Now is the time to get onto waitlists for this summer. The local area pools offer swim team opportunities and sometimes summer or sports camps, in addition to being a fun place to cool off during the summer months!

The D.C. area is rich with cultural and sports events. We are also quite accessible to vacation spots and day trips to area attractions.
