Weekly Newsletter 11/03/2023

Dear Parents,

With October just a memory, we move into our season of giving.

Thanksgiving is a great opportunity to teach children to be thankful and also to help others. Starting in November and going through the end of December, we have so many opportunities to teach our students kindness.

Each year in November we invite families to participate in a Family Turkey Project. Kids For Kids will provide recycled cardboard turkey cutouts and ask that families work together to decorate them. The decorated turkeys will be taken to a homeless shelter to decorate their facility on Thanksgiving.

We also ask families who are able to donate grocery gift cards from Publix or Walmart in any amount $5 and up. We will pool those gift cards and give them to families in our school who could use a little extra help this Thanksgiving to put food on their plates. Families who donate a gift card will be given a paper heart. On the heart, please write your child's name and put it on the giving tree hanging on the front window.

On Monday, you will also see a class sign-up sheet go up. Families who wish to do so are invited to sign up to bring in an item on Friday, November 17th. On that day, our classes will have a community feast with everything brought in by their classmates. There will be a lot of yummy food and a time for the children to come together and share a wonderful class meal with each other.

Our season of giving will continue through the end of December...Stay tuned for more details as November progresses.

FREE PIZZA NIGHT....Josh's Pizza is so very grateful for the opportunity to serve our families. For the month of October, he donated 10% of ALL his sales at all his events to the Live Like Bella Cancer Foundation. In all, he donated over $1250. To thank families for their continued support, he is holding a FREE PIZZA NIGHT this upcoming Wednesday. Josh will not be taking orders this week. Instead, please help yourself to pizza for you and your child at pick up. He will have several kinds prepared for you to choose from. Please take a slice or two with his sincerest thanks. We will resume ordering the following week so if you wish, sign up.

Reminder, Kids For Kids Academy will be closed on Friday, November 10th in observance of Veterans Day and also on November 23 and 24 in observance of Thanksgiving. For all our kids in VPK and our K-2 program, please keep in mind that although we will be open November 20, 21, and 22, as the public schools are closed, these are non-instructional camp days and attendance will not be taken. Students are able to attend or stay home on those days.

Finally, if you are reading this before Saturday, we hope to see you at the Country Walk Craft and Art Show. It is FREE and open to the public. There will be food and a kids' area for a small charge.

Have a wonderful weekend,

Beth Rosenthal Davis, Ed.S, NBCT
