Grace Outreach Grant Partnerships
2022 & 2023 Updates
In 2022, Grace partnered with 3 local organizations
to support our community through the
Grace Outreach Partnership Grant:
Palmetto Community Health Care,
Bethel Men's Shelter, and Life House Women's Shelter.

Our grant partnerships were so successful this year that the Outreach Committee decided to ask these partners if they'd be interested in a second year with Grace. We felt that, as the first year came to an end, our relationships were just coming together.

In 2022, we got to know about these organizations and how they operated and functioned. We also got to know how we at Grace could help and make an impact. The idea of continuing together just made sense. We were truly blessed as we realized what an impact we could make in a second year.

We are excited for another year with each of these Partners and look forward to seeing how these partnerships expand in 2023!

In the rest of this special e-news, we share more about what happened in 2022 and celebrate the start of 2023. Read on to learn more!

Thank you for your support in these Partnerships!

Our grant to PCHC provides the funds for a mobile mammogram clinic. Kathy Grier shares the impact of this clinic:

"One of our patients received her first mammogram – she was 53 years old. There was history of breast cancer in her family, and she had been so worried that she had cancer, but since she did not have health insurance and she has very little income, she thought she would not be able to get a mammogram. Luckily, she heard about Palmetto Community Health Care and became a patient. At her first appointment, she asked the provider if she was going to be able to get a mammogram. PCHC was able to schedule her appointment for the next mammogram. She was so appreciative for the opportunity and even more appreciative when her results came back – she did not have breast cancer!"

From Linda Ranges: "I can’t tell you how excited Kathy Grier was when she found out we were awarding PCHC another grant and continuing with our partnership. The look on her face made my day."

A message from Rev. Emily Sutton about the impact of Grace volunteers:

"7-10 different members of Grace Lutheran have volunteered an estimated 300 hours of service at Bethel Shelters in 2022. Annie Laurie Wheat and Bob Stonebreaker are present every Monday evening distributing donations. Ruth Wasserman and Dawn Hartman are present at the Shelter sorting and organizing donations throughout the week. Their individual contributions cannot be counted as they come early, leave late, and are always available as needed. These key volunteers have enabled the Night Shelter donations program to run smoothly since they have engaged as volunteers. However, each of the Grace Lutheran volunteers have given valuable time and energy to Bethel Shelters. They were new to our organization, stepped up to lead, and they have invited friends from Grace and from their employers to volunteer with them. We are grateful for the ways in which Grace members have decided to connect and pour into the Bethel Night Shelter."

The Bethel Men's center started in 2007 as a seasonal shelter. The need for homelessness services continued to grow in our area. In April of 2019 the Warming Center officially became the Bethel Men's Shelter, the first year-round emergency shelter in the area.
Life House Women's Shelter
$5,000 grant in 2022
$7,500 grant in 2023

At the opening of the HOME, the newest shelter in the LHWS system, the organization shared these words:

"Could there be any SWEETER day than today to Cut the Ribbon and OPEN the new HOME to women and children in our community?! Our hearts are full and we pray this home serves as a measure of LOVE to those in need! Thank you to the individuals, churches, businesses, service agency partners, and city leaders who helped to make this possible, we are grateful for you and to you! "

"The restoration of the new Home is really a beautiful picture of the restoration that happens in the lives of women we serve. Many women come worn down and broken yet through the efforts of The Life House, women begin to experience LIFE again in a RENEWED and RESTORED way. We aim to ADD value and BUILD up!"

In an effort to move women off of the streets and into housing, The Life House Women's Shelter seeks to provide help and hope to women in need. Life House Women's Shelter is a multi-location organization. They desire to build into the lives of women by offering a 30-60-90 day plan that encourages wholeness for each woman served. They partner with service providers in our community to ensure a continuum of care that enables a woman to develop physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and relationally.
Thank You once again for your ongoing support of our Grace Outreach Partners! We look forward to seeing what the next year of partnership brings!
