Caring for one another: Migration with Dignity Fund

The Commission on Hispanic/Latino Ministries of the Diocese of Texas has started an emergency fund to help families effected by deportations. As we celebrate the feasts of Oscar Romero and Cesar Chavez, I urge you to consider contributing to this fund so that we can quickly respond to urgent needs.

Serve the Community

Volunteer with Freedom Schools this summer!

Come join Welcome Table for our 12th summer of fun and inspiration at Freedom School (June 16-July 25)! Backstage volunteers chip in with preparation, behind-the-scenes, and follow-up. On-site volunteers get specialized training to help scholars practice reading, assist with afternoon activities, go on field trips and more.

Youth volunteers are essential, too! Apply by April 10, 2025. More information here.

Join the Neighbor to Neighbor service team!

Volunteers greet, visit with, and check-in neighbors, distribute food and diaper orders, and take bags of food to neighbor’s cars. It's meaningful . . . and it's fun! As one long-time team member stated, “Our Neighbors and our teams that prepare for and welcome them are a pleasure to be around. Relationships—many of them many years old—make the days we see each other times to look forward to. And I do!”

Shifts are from 3-5pm or from 5-7pm on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month.

Serve the Immigrant Community

We are in great need of volunteers to help with our Power of Attorney workshops for parents facing possible deportation. The POA gives custody to a family member or friend for kids whose parents are suddenly taken from them. This unfortunately happens more than you would want to believe.

The volunteers help parents fill out the forms. It's easy work, and no experience needed. Our team works with you and provides guidance.

We have a series of these workshops in various Austin locations throughout March. Notaries are also needed. We have served 45 families this month through the help of volunteers.

Please help us pass the word to others who might be interested in this Gospel call.
