Get your applications in! The SaskCulture Community Cultural Engagement and Planning Grant (CCEP) is open for applications until February 15.
The grant’s eligibility guidelines have been updated to include non-profits. Starting in the current round of funding, CCEP is now open to Saskatchewan cultural non-profit organizations working in partnership with at least one municipality or First Nation or Tribal Council, Métis Local or Métis Region. CCEP was previously open to only municipalities, First Nations, Tribal Councils, Métis Locals and Métis Regions. Organizations can contact Outreach Consultant Tara-Leigh Heslip with questions before applying.

WDM announces community memberships | The Western Development Museum (WDM) has announced a new Community Membership category created exclusively for non-profits. This new initiative gives non-profits that purchase a membership unlimited weekday and weekend regular admission year-round to all WDM locations for group visits. With this new option, the WDM aims to better support members of communities served by non-profit organizations, and increase accessibility to cultural heritage. Read more | Survey shows changes in language behaviour at home | The 2022/2023 Canadian Social Survey examined the changes in language behaviours at home by comparing the languages spoken most often at home at the time of the survey and those spoken most often at home five years earlier. The survey has found that the groups more likely to have made a language change include immigrants admitted to Canada in recent years, and people who did not speak the language of the majority most often at home. Overall, people were more likely to change language behaviours the younger they were. Read more | LIVE Arts: Upcoming Theatre/Movement sessions | The next Live Interactive Video Education (LIVE) Arts program will take place from January 24 to 26. The Theatre/Movement with Angela Christie sessions are aimed at Grades 1 to 8 and are open for registrations. The LIVE Arts dynamic distance education arts program for students in Grades 1 to 9 allows educators to bring professional artists to classrooms at no cost. The 2023-24 LIVE Arts programs are running until May, with sessions also available on demand. Read more | | |
Student Work Placement program still receiving applications | |
The Cultural Human Resources Council's Student Work Placement (SWP) program is still open for applications, with rolling intake. The SWP program offers internship subsidies for the cultural sector, and cultural organizations are eligible to apply for wage subsidies to hire post-secondary students for placements between April 1st, 2023 and March 31st, 2024. Blanket Exercise (Rivers West District for Sport, Culture & Recreation)
The Blanket Exercise is based on using Indigenous methodologies and the goal is to build understanding about our shared history as Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples in Canada by walking through pre-contact, treaty-making, colonization and resistance. By engaging on an emotional and intellectual level, the Blanket Exercise effectively educates and increases empathy.
