Green Growing Grass Gives Glorious Golden Ghee

Now say that five times fast! :)

Spring is one of our most favorite times of the year here at Pure Indian Foods. With the onset of spring comes the arrival of fresh nutritious rapidly-growing tender green grass, which cows then turn into the sweetest, most delicious milk of the year. This milk is being used to make our beloved handmade ghee.

Nalini has been very busy making our spring ghee and restocking for the past few weeks. It's very exciting to see the shelves at our warehouse full of deeply yellow liquid sunshine after making it through the gray New Jersey winter.

If you're one of those who enjoys the spring ghee, now's the time to stock up!

What is a normal ghee texture?

Did you know that ghee can exist at many different textures, even at the same temperature? Ghee contains many fatty acids with different melting points, which is what gives it this special quality. It's very simple to make your ghee your preferred texture if it arrives melted or solid and you prefer it the other way. Check out our guide on ghee texture at gheetexture.com.

I brought back traditional clay cups!

Clay vessels have been used traditionally in India for generations. Before we started to use ceramic and metal, people used clay vessels. In my childhood home in India, we had an earthen pot called "matka," which we used for water storage. The clay kept the water several degrees cooler than the surrounding environment. When I was a kid, I used to love drinking out of the matka directly and tasting the cool water, smelling the scent of the clay.

To this day, I love drinking water from earthen cups; the smell of wet earthen clay still makes me happy. Even now, I keep a clay cup in my car and fill it up for drinking water throughout the day! I want you, too, to experience the joy of drinking water from a real clay cup. That's why right now I'm offering a free clay item with purchase. See details below.

Sandeep's Joke Corner

“What is paneer?”

“It is water insoluble protein present in the milk.”

“No way!”

“Exactly.”

Justice is a dish best served cold...

If it were served warm, it would be justwater.

Recipe: Turmeric Face Mask

Multani mitti, known for its oil-absorbing and cleansing properties, helps to remove impurities and excess oil from the skin, leaving it feeling fresh and revitalized.

Manuka honey is renowned for its moisturizing properties. It helps nourish and hydrate the skin, promoting a soft and smooth complexion while also soothing any irritations.

Ingredients:

  1. In a clean bowl, combine the multani mitti and manuka honey.
  2. Mix the ingredients well until you have a smooth and consistent paste.
  3. If the mixture is too thick, you can add a few drops of water to achieve a spreadable consistency.
  4. Before applying the mask, cleanse your face thoroughly and pat dry with a towel.
  5. Using clean fingers or a brush, apply an even layer of the mask to your face, avoiding the delicate eye and lip areas.
  6. Relax and let the mask sit on your skin for about 15-20 minutes, allowing the ingredients to work their magic.
  7. Once the time is up, gently rinse off the mask with lukewarm water.
  8. Pat your face dry with a clean towel and follow up with your favorite moisturizer.
