"SENSATIONAL SILKS"

We are pleased to present "Sensational Silks" showcasing Dawn Gerardot's multiple mediums creations exhibit. Dawn states, "While creating, my mind moves to a most relaxed state, and I find a quietness and peace of heart."
From an early age, the passion to create has always been present in all that Dawn sees and does.
She feels a creative energy that tugs at the artist in her, and this is where "happy accidents" happen: an exciting unpredictable result, an unexpected color mingling or a combination of mediums that causes a turn in direction. Every painting is an experiment and for Dawn, pushing the boundaries is what it is all about. She fell in love with painting on pure silk some twenty years ago and the medium remains her favorite still today.

Dawn graduated from the University of St. Francis and taught secondary education for 14 years. Her love to teach, and this background provides her with the tools to share her knowledge of multiple mediums. Dawn has taught classes, workshops and seminars in Indiana and Florida for the past 20 years and has won numerous awards in many mediums. Dawn Gerardot's paintings can be found in many public and private collections throughout the country.

Established in 1990 by a small group of local artists on Anna Maria Island, the Island Gallery has evolved into a successful artist's cooperative of nearly thirty members.
The Gallery is staffed each day by one of our knowledgeable member artists.
We offer a rich variety of our fine works of art including paintings, artistic photography, drawings, mixed media, ceramic arts, jewelry, glass mosaics and much more.

The resident Artists from Island Gallery and Studios, located in downtown Bradenton, have been invited to exhibit examples of their artistic endeavors at the new Lakewood Ranch Library on Rangeland Road in their main check-out area. Items include oils, acrylics, Colored Pencils, Watercolors, Graphite Drawings, Photography, Mixed Media, Paper Mache, Jewelry and even wine glasses enveloped in spring flowers delicately painted on.
All creations are for sale. Ask at the check-out desk for a list.

April's Raffle Artwork
April's artwork is a 12x8 photograph on gallery wrapped canvas from award-winning Susan Bokos titled "WADING FOR DINNER" and is valued at $120.
Each month a $5 donation gets you entered to win artwork that has been donated by one of the Gallery's professional and talented artists. The winner is drawn on the last Thursday of the month.

Janet and Dawn are so happy how this program is being accepted. So, think about joining us. Come SIT & SIP and join the fun at Island Gallery & Studios for these free interactive discussion sessions on what makes a good piece of art. Learn to critique your own work by learning how to analyze it using
basic design principles.
If you are stuck in your current painting or are having trouble deciding whether or not it's finished, come join us as we introduce you to Critique Corner. We invite you to come and listen or bring your paintings for analysis and we'll help you work through the issues. It's a wonderful learning experience and interesting conversation full of sharing, insight and inspiration. Each session will address different issues, so come to one session or all for something a little different each time. Take advantage of this opportunity to add to your
