After what felt like a longer than usual winter break, we would like to welcome you back to school and some semblance of normalcy. Hopefully everyone had a safe, warm, and blessed holiday and created memories with family and friends.
This new year allows us all to reset and start over with a clean slate. With that in mind, this is the perfect opportunity to start new/better habits and continue growing into the best version of ourselves. Please pray for us in that journey as we continue to pray for you and your family.
We'd love the opportunity to reach as many families as possible. If you know someone who would like to OPT IN to future emails, please share this newsletter or this link-- NewCath News - OPT IN.
Merry Christmas from our NCC family to yours!
Looking forward to connecting in the new year,
Stefanie Gray

ALUMNI OPPORTUNITIES
Will You Help With This Year's Student Retreats?
Many caring adults are needed for retreats serving our current NCC students. Use the form below if you are interested in learning more about assisting with this year's retreats. This form does NOT formally commit you to a retreat date it purely shows interest.
Lilly Middendorf (Class of 2028) and Lucas Duty (Class of 2026)
Q:Introduce yourself
Lilly: Lilly Middendorf, freshman. I went to St. Thomas.
Lucas: Lucas Duty, junior. I went to St. Joseph and St. Thomas for grade school.
Q: What is your best grade school memory?
Lilly: My favorite grade school memory was when my 8th grade class made a buffet in our religion class. We all brought in different foods, and we had a feast and just hung out.
Lucas: The Blue Jay Classic- It was a great experience and I had a lot of fun with my friends, and field trips because I had a lot of fun with my friend.
Q: Why did you choose NCC?
Lilly: I chose NCC because I really did like the family community that this school had. I also chose NCC because my sister goes here (she is a junior) and because a lot of my friends and classmates came here from my class at St. Thomas.
Lucas: I chose NCC because all my friends came here, and I know that they have a great sports program.
Q: What has been your best high school experience so far?
Lilly: My best high school experience so far is going back to St. Thomas and teaching gym to kindergarten and second grade. I really enjoyed this because it brought me back to my old grade school and let me hang out with my little brother (he's in second grade). It was a really fun time and I'm looking forward to going again.
Lucas: My best high school experience so far has been homecoming and Catholic Schools Week
Q: What do you most look forward to in your high school career?
Lilly: I look most forward to learning. I look forward to getting to take different classes based on my interests as electives. I am also excited to learn more about my faith and other things that will eventually prepare me for my future after NCC.
Lucas: I look forward to becoming a senior and building my future career and life
Q: What advice would you give to your younger self?
Lilly: I would tell my younger self to never give up no matter how hard the task is.
Lucas: I would tell my younger self to not worry as much and live life to the fullest, because at the end of the day you only live one life and you want to have fun, have friends, and make priceless memories.
Q: What legacy do you hope to leave after you graduate from NCC?
Lilly: I hope that when I graduate people will remember me as kind, happy, and determined. I want them to always remember me as always being kind to everyone and always happy. I want them to remember me as never wanting to give up and always determined.
Lucas: I hope people say that I was a great, memorable, and kind friend who always made their day better.
WE ARE HIRING!
Newport Central Catholic High School has a position open for a Robotics coach for the 2024-25 School Year. This is a new position at our school; therefore, self-initiative, vision and a collaborative approach are absolutely essential. The Robotics Coach will be responsible for building a program from the ground up utilizing the newly renovated Science Learning Center. Newport Central Catholic has a high percentage of students involved in multiple extracurricular activities, so working with various schedules will be important.
To apply, interested candidates should email a resume and cover letter to Kenny Collopy, Principal, at kcollopy@ncchs.com.

In The Midst of Winter
Lord:
In the midst of Winter, when the days are cold and wind can pierce remind us of the warmth of your love.
In the midst of Winter, when days are short, dawn comes late, and dusk arrives early remind us that in the darkness your light still shines.
In the midst of Winter, when the flowers of spring still lie hidden in the earth, when leaves are off the trees, and the world can seem bleak remind us that Easter is but a short time away.
And when in our lives we feel as if we are experiencing a season of winter, reach out to us with the power of your resurrection so that we may feel the warmth of your love and see your light that alone can take away the darkness of our soul.
