Second Sunday of Lent
Today is the 12th papal anniversary of our Holy Father Pope Francis. Please remember to pray for him daily as he remains in stable condition in the care of Rome’s Gemelli Hospital.
Last Wednesday, the Diocese of Charlotte opened the Disciple Maker Index survey. Although11% of the parish have completed the survey, it is our goal to achieve at least 30% participation. The survey will ask you to reflect on your own spiritual growth and provide feedback on how St. Mark helps you grow in your relationship with Christ. All responses are confidential, and the parish will only receive collective data. I ask that you take 10-15 minutes to complete the survey. The link to the survey can be found below.
Hopefully by this time in Lent, you have begun your Lenten practices and can see the benefit of them. The reason we engage in almsgiving, prayer, and fasting is because we are often distracted by the world in which we live. It is important that we take the time to withdraw a little from the world so that we can hear God’s voice and recognize how He is trying to lead us. His desire is to draw us closer, to help us experience His love more profoundly, so that we in turn can share that love with those we encounter.
In Christ,
Fr. John
