Gymnastics Earns 20th Consecutive Championship
The unprecedented success of the BBHHS Gymnastics program now stretches across two decades, as the Bees won their 20th consecutive and 23rd overall OHSAA Team Gymnastics title at the 2023 OHSAA State Gymnastics Tournament on Friday, March 3 rd. With a team score of 148.825, the third highest in OHSAA state tournament history, the Bees edged out Delaware Olentangy Berlin High School to claim the title in a tightly contested competition. Gymnasts competing in the team competition were: Emily Gromek, Rachel Kelly, Gianna Ravagnani, Jeanne Winzen, Avery Butler, Leah Haverdill, Ella Shaheen, Abby Henning, and Delaney Evans.
During the individual competition, sophomore Gianna Ravagnani competed in all four events and earned the designation of State Champion as she finished 1st in the Vault event, 9th place in the Beam event, 4th place in the floor exercise, and 8th place in the All-Around event. Several other Bees finished in the top ten for the Vault event, including Emily Gromek (7th place) and Rachel Kelly (tied for 8th ). Rachel Kelly also finished tied for 9th in the Floor Exercise event. Jeanne Winzen and Avery Butler also competed for the Bees in the individual competition.
