Steps is Saturday, February 10 in downtown Houston. An annual event organized by the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston, Steps is an exciting day of family fun that brings together the Catholic community for a sunrise Mass and 5K run/walk. Each Catholic school forms their own team, and registration fees and donations made in honor of SCM team members support St. Catherine's.

2024-2025 Re-enrollment Deadline is Friday, February 9

Current SCM Parents: 

You should have received an email on January 9 regarding re-enrollment for next year. As a reminder, your decision to enroll into or withdraw from the 2024-2025 school year is due on Friday, February 9, 2024. 

Instructions for Re-enrollment:

1. Log in to FACTS Family Portal with your username/password. (Type STCM-TX into the District Code field)
2. Click on the Apply / Enroll button in the left menu.
3. Click on the Enrollment / Re-enrollment button.
4. Pay the $750 non-refundable re-enrollment deposit for each child. The non-refundable deposit is applied towards tuition.

Sibling Applications Deadline is Friday, January 26

St. Catherine’s is now accepting sibling applications for the 2024-2025 school year. As siblings of current SCM students have priority in the admission process, your application is due by Friday, January 26, 2024.

2024-2025 Tuition Assistance Application Open

The FACTS application for 2024-2025 tuition assistance is open.

If you would like to apply for consideration in the first round of the Archdiocesan scholarship fund, please complete the FACTS application by Friday, February 9, 2024.

Montessori Night School is Thursday, February 1 from 5:00 to 6:30 PM. This come-and-go event is a wonderful opportunity for parents to see Montessori work in action. Primary and Lower Elementary children will show their parents their classrooms and demonstrate the lessons they are learning, while Upper Elementary students will present research. 

Mr. Snow's UE classroom will host a geography fair; the students will focus on the countries of Africa. In Ms. Spesia's UE room, the students will present a colloquium featuring individual research stations on a variety of topics.

Classroom Schedule

• Primary: 5:00 – 6:00 PM
• Lower Elementary: 5:30 – 6:30 PM
• Upper Elementary: 5:00 – 6:30 PM

Childcare is available in the gym for currently enrolled SCM Primary students only. Because space is limited in every room at all levels, we ask that you visit the room with only your child whose class you are in. Elementary students will need to arrive by 5:00 PM and will remain in their classes for the duration of the event to give their presentations.

All parents are welcome to visit the Upper Elementary classrooms to enjoy the Upper Elementary geography fair and research colloquium.

Paney Family Meal Train

Lydia (LE) and Elise (Primary) have a younger sister, Kit (now 18 months), who was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia type B late last year. Her prognosis is good. Treatment will be over 2.5-3 years at Texas Children's. Please consider signing up to provide a meal or restaurant gift card, which can be brought to school on the date of sign-up. Prayers or good wishes are also very much appreciated.

January Garden Education Day is Next Tuesday

Join our naturalist and Friends of the Garden for this month's Garden Education Day on Tuesday, January 23 at 8:00 AM in the Cypress Patio. The topic is native plants.

Library Work Days on Tuesdays

Parents are invited to join the Friends of the Library on Tuesday mornings after drop-off to help catalog and restore books, prepare book bags for the Primary children, and maintain the Parent Library.

Christian Meditation for Parents on Wednesdays at SCM

All are invited to join Friends of the Atrium for Christian meditation, for 20 minutes on Wednesday mornings at 8:05 AM.

Meditation is prayer in a simple form that dates back to the earliest Christian tradition. When we sit silently in the presence of God, simply enjoying the comfort of His presence, what grows is a communication that is deeper than words. Meditation develops our relationship with God and increases our faith.

PSO Book Club Meets Friday, January 26

Our second book, "The Emotional Lives of Teenagers" by Lisa Damour, will be the focus of our PSO Book Club meeting on Friday, January 26 at 8:30 AM in the gym. All are invited to join the discussion and you do not have to complete the book to attend.
