Hello Michael,

Here is what's happening

at Market Wines this week!

Facebook  Twitter

This weekend is Christmas and we are in full Christmas mode at the wine store. We are ready to help you select that perfect gift or bottle to go with Christmas dinner. Remember, we will be having a special wine tasting on Friday, December 22nd. We will have our normal tasting on Saturday but no tasting on Sunday. We will be open Sunday, Christmas Eve, for all your last-minute needs.  There will be no tasting but wines and beers by the glass.

Unfortunately, our supplier for the Gluhwein went out of business this year. We were fortunate to find a different supplier, their inventory wasn't very big. We have a limited supply. We will serve it hot by the glass but it won't make it through the weekend.

Great wine tasting this hybrid weekend. A great Prosecco from Italy, an amazing Muscadet from Loire River Valley, France. For the reds, we have a wonderful Beaujolais from France and an incredible Carmenere from Chile. To say thanks to all our amazing customers, we are doing a special bonus pour. We will have a small taste of a beautiful Brunello di Montalcino from Italy.

Ca’Furlan Cuvee Beatrice Prosecco, Italy $16.99

Veneto-based wine industry veteran, Alessandro Furlan made wine at his family’s vineyard in Friuli for years before deciding to start his own label with longtime friend and owner of Regal Wine Imports, Charlie Trivinia. Alessandro’s grandfather started the family tradition of working in the wine business when he worked in retail during WWII. His son, Alessandro’s father, started the “Franco Furlan” wine label in the late 1960s. “Ca” means home and family in the local dialect of northeast Italy, so the name Ca’ Furlan references Alessandro’s roots in the historic regions of Friuli Venezia Giulia and Veneto, both places Alessandro calls home. Sourced from some of the best vineyards in the Prosecco DOC, Alessandro works with local partners to carefully select and blend the wines to maintain a consistent style with fresh flavors for the Ca’ Furlan line of wines. Prosecco Cuvee Beatrice is named after Alessandro’s daughter, Beatrice.

Domaine de la Tourmalin Muscadet Sevre et Maine, France $15.99

Since 1987, Peter Weygandt has been an importer of French wines and has gained a national and international reputation for the quality of his selections and his portfolio of top “boutique” French wines. This wonderful Muscadet is from the Loire Valley, France and is 100% Melon de Bourgogne.

Pierre-Marie Chermette Beaujolais Les Griottes, France $19.99

In 1873, Pierre-Marie's great-grandfather, Claude-Marie Vissoux, mayor of the village of Saint Vérand, built a beautiful vaulted stone cellar. Pierre-Marie Vissoux grandfather died in World War I and his grandmother, who was in her twenties, was left as the head of the winery. Not knowing anything about running a vineyard, the vines became overgrown. Pierre-Marie's father, Maurice Chermette, returned from captivity in World War 2 and relaunched farming by planting new vines. In 1982 at the age of 22, Pierre-Marie Chermette took over the family estate. Over the years, the estate fulrished and expanded and they decided to rename the winery Domaine Chermette. This Beaujolais is a cuvee made from vines less than 30 years old, this cuvée develops the freshness of red fruits. It is called Griottes because of its aromas but also because the bottom of the vines is bordered by cherry trees.

Casa Silva Carmenere, Chile $15.99

The Silva family has its origins in the Colchagua Valley and its wines reflect its commitment and the passion each member of the family has to and for the earth. Viña Casa Silva is a 100% family-owned company that seeks to transfer the pride of its roots and its respect for nature and their people, to the world and its future generations. Viña Casa Silva began in 1997 en pursuit of a long-held dream of sharing the family’s love and affection for its land in the Colchagua Valley in a bottle of wine. Emilio Bouchon was the first to arrive in Chile from St. Emilion, Bordeaux, France, in 1892, and his family has been making wine there ever since. The Casa Silva line was created with the best restaurants and wine shops around the world in mind. This 100% Carmenere is ruby red color with hints of tobacco, black and red fruits.
